[Dragon] Contents of Dragon #314

I haven't bought an issue of Dragon in years, but with support for both my all time favorite D&D setting and one of my guilty pleasures . . .

I feel for you...both Taladas and Hollow World are dear to me, I have ALMOST everything printed for both. :D

All those element based spells feats and idea look great. I actually got one of the magazines! 312, I still need 311 though :(

Dragon #315 looks VERY cool. Nice to see some of the classic campaign settings that still have a strong fanvase being given some attention for once.

I'll definitely have to pick it up for the DragonLance article alone.

Now all we need is a 'Snarf' race, or better yet a Template.

GO SNARF!

Dude, we've had that for over a year now. Elmore Productions was, IIRC, the company that produced the SnarfQuest d20 book back in 2002. I got mine last GenCon. It's really worth it!

Richards, would you mind putting a [Dragon] or [Paizo] tag on the title of this thread? People from Paizo often look through these forums for feedback on their magazines, and a while back Morrus asked us to do this as a way of making things easier for them.

That said, I think I've found a mistake in #314:

The "Under Command" article featured a single new spell over on page 73, Sacred Circle. The spells grants a +2 enhancement bonus to attacks made within the cirlce (including ranged attacks fired from within the circle to targets outside of it), and all such attacks are also treated as magic weapons for purposes of overcoming DR.

There's just one problem here - it's going to be a bit hard to be inside that circle, since the spell reads "Effect: 0-ft. radius circle". How the heck do you stand inside a 0-foot radius circle? I'm guessing there should have been a 5 or a 6 or something right in front of that 0.

I was excited about all the campaign setting stuff 'til I read ....

DRAGONLANCE............. gives you information on playing a draconian character, as well as some feat options for your favorite draconian.

Greyhawk ....dozens of regional feats for the Greyhawk setting

Al-Qadim..... new 20-level class.

Ravenloft now battle the most legendary vampire in D&D in revised 3rd Edition. Plus, revisit Castle Ravenloft with a brand-new map of Strahd's lair.

Kara-Tur -ancestor feats and martial arts styles

Red Steel Witness the return of cinnabar and red steel, the affected, and tortles.

Typical WOTC/Dragon Mag faire these days... ...all feats/stats/mechanics "Crunch" BS..well, except for a map of Strahds castle... Where are the PrClasses and new skills?

I'll be letting my sub lapse again too in Jan...

Crunch is more useful because it can be applied, often with minor tweaking, to any game setting for d20. Having an in-depth article full of flavor text about how trade relations between central Faerun and Zakhara are still only seeing marginal growth due to internal squabbles, disputed trade rights, and periodic attacks by the yak-men are going to satisfy far, far less people than a set of new feats and spells would.

Personally, I think this issue seems to be targetting things that would otherwise be difficult to convert to the new edition, such as sha'irs and cinnabryl and such, which I think is a wonderful move.

.

Oh I understand why they do it, I just hate seeing every issue of the magazine or the vast majority of a sourcebook dedicated to it over and over and over and over and over and.....

I don't hold any malice towards WOTC or Dragon, but I've had enough...I stopped buying WOTC books, and I'm really tired of Dragon's Same Ol' Chit different month focus...Things looked promising for a bit and I resubbed..and again I'll let it lapse and see if things change at the newstand/bookstore :(

Elemental PrClasses

"Channeling the Elements - 4 Elemental Prestige Classes, by Spencer Kornhaber: Four prestige classes designed for four core classes."

Can anyone tell me what these Prestige Classes are, and what they're like? Curious....

(By the way, thanks :) Richards, for your thoroughness!)
