Dragon & Dungeon Magazine Alternative

I heard exactly the opposite. They were going to take their time and get it out once everything was set up and running smoothly. Next year was an estimate, it might be late this year (my guess would be Dec if this year, maybe Nov).

If that's the case then WotC should have let Paizo continue publishing real magazines til they (WotC) were ready. They have according to both companies had about a year and a half to get it ready (just a reminder that when the announcement was made Paizo said they knew that their license was going to end a year before it would do so but WotC allowed them to finish the current Savage Tide Adventure Path so another 5 months have passed- so roughly a year and a half). WotC should have had a system ready and tested and retested before Paizo stopped publishing Dragon and Dungeon magazines so there would be no interruption in support of D&D.

As most of you know Paizo isn't doing the magazines anymore...this Gleemax thing...whatever it is suppose to be is going to substitute for it. I have a credit coming to me from Paizo for the rest of the year's worth of subscription and what I really want is to spend it on another gamer type mag rather then credit or get the Pathfinder product. Can anyone suggest a good gamer magazine. I like Dungeons and Dragons and d20 in general as well as other games...but mostly d20 stuff.

Thanks in advance to you all.

If you want to be sure that Paizo still gets that money, you might look toward some back issues of the Dragon or Dungeon mags or maybe they allow people to spend it at the Paizo store?

Wulfgang, if memory serves me correctly, was the editor not an assistant editor and has been the author of many many cool adventures, not limited to The Kingdom of Ghouls and Return to Ravenloft. Kobold Quartery#1 is very cool and has a small, limited print run.

Don't be surprised if the DI ends up being vaporware.
Extremely unlikely since myself and a few other well-known writers have already been approached about stuff for it. ;)
Granted, just because we're already starting or waiting for the go ahead to get started on our respective projects, that doesn't mean it will materialze, but I hightly doubt that.

There is the Crusader as someone else mentioned. However even as a C&C fan I find it to be...less than excellent. Too much fiction and historical stuff for me. The format seems to jump around and the release schedule is very dodgy. After my next issue my sub runs out and I'm not re-upping. It's had one really useful issue so far in terms of C&C stuff I think.

Interesting. That sounds like the early run of The Dragon (lots of fiction, lots of historical pieces). I guess they are trying to be the "throwback" game.

Probably. Its not bad but it just wasn't what I was really looking for. Maybe my expectations were too high, then the 6+ months straight with no issue really got on my nerves after I paid for a subscription to a monthly. I really soured on it early. The issue with all the multiclass stuff is the one really good one for a C&C player. IMO.

Very much like early Dragon, IMO. I guess it's not for everyone, but I like it the fact that there's a lot of content that has no direct game-mechanics application. It's a bit of everything: RPG stuff, historical stuff, fiction, poetry (rare), scenarios, comics, et cetera.
