D&D 5E Dragon Heist vs DotMM?

I'm playing Dragon Heist now as a player and it's fun for me. And I have co-player, whose character was a real game maker. He died yesterday... maybe not so interesting in plotting between Waterdeep mafias... but still nice for my char leading restaurant. And I'm worried about what will be after dip in DotMM

In my opinion, WDH is interesting as a mini-setting for Waterdeep, rich with NPCs and especially villains. Great art, also.
WDotMM is interesting as a mini-setting for Undermountain. You can always borrow from its dungeons, designed up to LVL 20.

As adventures, they are NOT that great.
All in all, I rated them both 4/5 stars.

The Waterdeep adventures are pretty messy as "Adventure Paths" but as toolboxes very promising. Dragon Heist has a couple dozen urban dungeons for low levels, and can easily be treated as a "Dungeon Delves" product for city shennanigans. The story is very DIY, and will depend a lot on DM labor to make work. We've had fun with it.

DotMM can also be useful as a high-level "Dungeon Delves" product, taking the various levels and making them independent dungeons for upper Tier players.

Storm Kings Thunder is a real ball, actually, lots to work with there.

I have plenty of adventures to mine for ideas, maps etc.

Realistically I won't run any of them more collect/read/maybe mine.

On that front, all three are good reads, and mines with deep veins.

If running them isn't an immediate concern, their flaws are very much mitigated, sicne you won;t have to do the work to whip them into shape.

Creating blocks of marble to work into a shape by cutting seems to be Perkins goal with these books, not tightly constructed Paths like 3.x APs.

Well there's an element of completing them. I think I own all of the others.

I haven't really read any cover to cover, and only played a few. No one seems to complete them lol.

I'm running smaller adventures and linking them or slicing chunks out of Pathfinder ones.

I like this map but not the metaplot. Best use for HotDQ.
