[Dragon] Lord, the cheese...

Just got my copy of Dragon #306 in the mail today.

Now, I'm not one to complain about offensive content; I found all the hubub about the F-word and the Confrontation ad in last month's issue pretty silly.

But, man, this month's cover... more succubus porn. I'm not really offended in any moral sense, but every time WotC/Paizo has me convinced that they've left the chainmail bikini look behind, they sucker-punch me with something that looks like it belongs on the side of a custom van.

But I won't rant at length. Summary for any Paizo poeple are reading this: less cheesecake, more Kalman. Thanks!

Hey, buzz -- anything else good in the issue? I'm sitting on the fence with Dragon: it's been good lately, but I have less and less need of it the more stuff I pick up. Fiends have always been a particular "fetish" of mine in gaming, though.

While half-nakkid woomen are all and good, where have the cool pictures of huge muscled dudes with big weapons standing on piles of the skulls of thier foemen gone? One of the things I liked about Conan... And dudes with cool armor and weapons, like the epic blackguard in the ELH, imo the best dnd picture I've seen. Too much emphesis on the sexual aspect of being male, not enough emphesis on the violent aspect, which I, personally, since I do play a game that relvolves around killing monsters, like.

Anyways

I have to say buzz, that I liked the cover. It should be sexy. It's a sucubus. I do understand your point. I had to hide it, the magazine, from my kids. I don't want them seeing that stuff yet. They will soon enough.

Joshua, I like Dragon, dispite all the WotC books I've collected over the years. In this issue there is great stuff on Hell Spawned Servants, 18 of'em. I like the rules for action-movie stunts, 7 pages worth. I use the sage advice regularly and buzz, you have to admit the art work for the Paladins of Greyhawk is excellent. I love the shield maiden in particular.

I will continue to enjoy Dragon regardless of the cover. The content is where it's at for me.

EDIT: The monthly column on D&D 3.5 doesn't hurt either.

I guess the complainers have homely succubi dressed in nun outfits in their games ,huh?:D

honestly this issue is pretty high quality.

Swim suit edition comes out this summer (too much competition from Sports Ill. for current release)

I imagine you're joking, but for the record, Asgard magazine already released a Swimsuit Edition last August.

More "Succubus Porn". Feh. I really wish Dragon would think of other ways to draw attention to themselves. Where's the Erinyes porn? Dryad porn? Wood Nymph porn? I mean come on, what is this, 1E?

;)

I couldn't care less about what is on the cover. That said, I don't have kids or I just might. I have really liked Dragon's content lately and I have to say that I look forward to every issue. The whole thing isn't great but there is enough there to keep me wanting more.

That said, anyone have a Good and Bad (and even Ugly?) for this issue? :D

Sex sells. Everything from blue jeans to ice cream, to, yes, say it with me, Dragon Magazine. Shame on them for preying on our weakness!

Thank god that they aren't running the magazine covers for Pokemon!
