Dragon Subscription - UK

First Post
A situation has occurred which has annoyed me greatly and I wondered if anyone out there might be able to help me.

In August I paid WotC for a subscription to the Dragon Magazine. I received my issues until issue 300, after that they just stopped.

Why? Well as you are all aware WotC have transferred the Dragon Magazine to Paizo Publishing. For some reason Paizo have not received the money I have paid for my subscription, and until they do no further copies of the magazine will be sent out.

I wondered if I am the only person in the UK who appears to be in this situation?

Does anyone know how I go about getting a refund from WotC or Hasbro for that matter.

I appreciate that there are sometimes problems when there are changes such as this, but no one even bothered to tell me. They just stopped sending the magazines and kept my money. Is this theft, fraud or even illegal?

It also appears that is it currently impossible to get a subscriptions to Dragon Magazine unless you order it from the states, personally I may just go and buy it from the local games shop, but once again the UK appears to be shafted by WotC/Hasbro.

Anyone out there with any thoughts/ideas on this?

Tony

wanderer9 I'm with you.

In April I renewed my subscription. When issue 301 failed to turn up and then issue 302 I rang the distribution company (this is back at the end of November) who said they were trying to sort it out and should be able to do so within a couple of weeks. :(

Anyway, Jan 03 here and no joy. They'll be getting another call soon and I'll be asking for my outstanding money back.

I'm a bit dopey but I was sure I still had issues to come (I renewed it not too long ago.) I also stopped getting my subscription :(

Same here I cancelled my subscirption but have yet to recieve a refund.

Instead I set up a order with my local Smiths...
this is great considering it less then a two minute walk though I could get it sent. The cost I worked out is less then a subscription from the states with there shipping shops.

I'm stupid

Me too, I guess.

I thought I'd resubscribed and paid, but then because nothing was turning up, assumed I hadn't after all.

To be honest, these boards and kenzerco always give me all the info I need, so I was happy to let it lapse, but I think you're right. My resubscription coincided with issue 300, I think, so they must owe me quite a lot by now. :(

I might get on the blower too. Thanks for alerting me to this.

Would it be worth putting [paizo] or something in the subject line? I know they visit these boards, and it might (possibly) be that they have something they can say here...

I too am waiting for mine. I have emailed Paizo twice so far and have yet to recieve a reply.

Apparently this is affecting most (if not all) of the European subscribers.

Paizo Publishing have posted lack-luster responses on the wizards board

Basically Paizo Publishing don't give a flying (insert chosen profanity here) about European subscribers, and, in my opinion, want us all to cancel our subscriptions so that they can increase the subscription prices and force us all to subscribe again.

Last I heard, Paizo were aware of the subscription problem are were attempting to resolve it.

I'll move this to the D20 Publishers forum, where they're more likely to see it.

There is a slightly fuller explanation in this thread here...

It is taking a long time, and it is frustrating (I should know, I subscribe to both Dragon and Dungeon) but we shall just have to see. The alternatives, subscribing from america (+$46 dollars in p&p) or trying to rely on Forbidden Planet or WHSmith to get them both in all the time are just too much for me so I have little choice but to wait and see...

Wishing those at Paizo the best speed on this one...

I noticed another rather annoying facet of the transfer to Paizo which has arisen, namely that there is no longer an UK/European subscription address.... so for any of us to subscribe to Dragon or Dungeon etc.. now we now have to pay International shipping rates as well. (Even checked with Paizon and this is definitely the case) :(

that just plain sucks....

:( :(
