Dragonlance: Children of the Dragon : Chapter 1 First Hunt

[OOC: At this point your wyrmlings only understand and speak draconic, as that was the only language your mother used when speaking to her eggs. Your bonus languages will come into play at a later date. The draconians are speaking common which shares some words with draconic that you can recognize.

Also I should note that newly hatched dragons can't fly, and take -2 penalty to Dexterity and attack rolls, as per the Draconomicon pg. 12]

OOC: Alright. I'll edit the language bit. A -2 to Dex and attack isn't going to stop Flashfrost; aside the fact that he'll open any conflict with his breath weapon, which is unaffected, he's not one to calculate odds.

Lukisalinari dutifully followed the others of her clutch, working her way through the crevaces. Sometimes, she thought, it was good to be the smallest. Her heart caught every time

This room with the stone dragons . . . Lukisalinari tried to remember its purpose. The room was fairly impressive and Lukisalinari's senses were overloaded by all of the new experiences.

She didn't recognize all of what the green scales said . . . something of 'dragon, steal, captured, eggs'. She was fairly certain that steal was a dirty word (at least to silver dragons). Maybe they were bringing tribute that they had stealed . . . errr stolen. Lukisalinari racked her brain trying to figure out what was going on.

When Kharasmadrion rushed out to confront the fellow dragon types and the pelt lip, Lukisalinari edged toward the leader of the clutch and waited on his response.

Then she saw the oxen . . . she stared at them, pointed so the others would see what she was talking about, then all she could say was . . . "Fooood."

"We're not ready for this," Khirsahfalithet thinks to himself, "but I suppose we'll have to search for mother later... if there is a later now."

Khirsahfalithet hangs back a bit from the rest of the clutch, watching, waiting for the response of the draconoids.

Vervaerynosz: Male Wyrmling

Being slightly larger then the rest it took the eldest wyrmling the longest to squirm through the cracks. As he nears the others he can hear the sounds and doubles his efforts to get through. Unfortunately this make the task twice as difficult since his coodination is still not up to par.

Finally he emerges on the ledge with the others. Quickly accessing the situation he decides on a quick plan of action.

"Brothers and sister, we need to first get down from here." He looks down over the edge of the ledge and then from side to side. "Once we are all down then I suggest we work together in a coordinated effort." He looks both proud and surprised at himself. Proud that he is leading the clutch so well and surprised that he is able to even think of such a thing.

OOC: Is there a way down along the wall or otherwise? Can newly hatched dragons glide or use their wings to decrease their falling speed?

Chapter 1 First Hunt

The dragon’s chamber is good 200ft wide and at least 300ft long. The wyrmlings crouch on a ledge 20ft up on the opposite wall from the draconians. Kharasmadrion’s shout is almost swallowed by the room and at first the draconians don’t seem to hear it over their loud laughter, but one head glances in the wyrmling’s direction, sees them, and gives a shout of warning. All five figures turn to look, just as the little man reaches his feet, he opens his mouth to harangue them, but instead turns to see what they’re looking at. The little man let’s out a high pitched shriek at the sight of the wyrmlings then runs for and dives under the wagon. One of the dragon-men barks out an order and four of the figures rush across the room towards the babies, while the fifth turns towards the wagon.

[Initiative time: Lucky 19, Flashfrost 18, Coldlight 16, Southwind 12, Vern 10, Draconians 6]

[DM: The carvings offer a ledge just wide enough for the wyrmlings to walk upon. This is the upper border of the carvings and circles the entire room, there is no sloped path to the floor. Your dragons certainly don’t know how to fly yet, but the equipment and instinct are certainly there. Each of your Dexterities are at temporary score of minus –2. If you wish to attempt to fly it’s a dexterity check at DC 20, to attempt to glide is slightly easier with a DC 15]

Kharasmadrion will breath frost onto the ledge wall, creating a layer of ice that he and his siblings can walk down.

Lukisalinari looked on as four of the little green scales rushed toward the clutch. She was more interested in the one that stayed behind - it looked like the other was heading to the wagon . . . where the food was tied up.

Her belly rumbled and her blood quickened in her veins - she hadn't eaten yet since getting out of her shell. Lukisalinari briefly wondered if she should have eaten the shell. Her fear of being trapped in it had made her not consider it before now.

Lukisalinari looked to the entrance of the cave and of the way the food was pointing - she didn't want her first meal ever to get away. Lukisalinari nodded in understanding to Vern and replied, "I understand, brother, but we shouldn't let the food get away either - mother may have left that food for us."

With that Lukisalinari tried to climb over the edge, slipped into open air and then tried to glide to the ground in the direction of side of the cave entrance.

OOC: Double move (or very careful glide for a half move), moving toward entrance and landing.

Vervaerynosz: Male Wyrmling

Listening to Lukisalinari's statement and then seeing her head toward the entrance, the young wyrmling follows after her. He too moves to the edge and tries to glide in that same direction.
