Dragons are kinda boring...

A battle with a White is going to be on a mountain pass, where the ledges are icy and the thing can take to the air, bullrush people off of the ledges, or cause avalanches/rockslides.

Find a store running World Wide D&D Day next Saturday and sign up to Fight the White. You won't be disappointed.

I don't know if there will be one in my area; here I was expecting "Into the Shadowhaunt" even if there was!

I hope that people post the details to "Into the Shadowhaunt" and "Fight the White" online after WWGD!

Also should be noted for those who don't want to spend that much time individually adding spells and such to their Dragon if that is what you wish there is the Wizard Template in the DMG.

I personally, am enormously glad, I can actually have the good, old feral dragon that simply eats and kills, without tons of alterations.

You could also add for transformation, the "Change Shape" Power that the Doppelganger has.

You can always, if you feel your dragon's lack a little oomph, toss a wizard or cleric template on them. I know I plan to once in a while, just to keep the players on their toes ;) - Now I just need to figure out what that does the balance of the encounter.

Anyone found that yet? If you put a class template on a solo monster, say a level 10 solo monster, what happens? How do you balance it?

Cheers

Have you seen one in play? Dragons get a lot of "interrupt" abilities. They don't look that interesting to read, but they're nasty in combat.

Heh heh. My players get to find out just how nasty this Sunday.

If I understood the rules correctly so far, slapping a template increases a monster to Elite or Solo status. What happens with a Solo?
Aside from the possibility of an Angel getting his win, maybe you should increase the XP again by an amount equal to to a monster of the Dragons level, and hope you don't break anything, and take care of squishy things, like PCs.

I imagine that you could probably give a dragon a couple of encounter (or even perhaps daily) powers from a class power list without making it unbeatable, but giving it a bit more interest in a fight.

I'm interested to see what they look like.

Regards,

Well the Wizard Template, gives a for example level 26 Dragon (I use a high level since the amount of powers you get goes up with the level of the monster):

-1 At-Will
-2 Encounter (different levels) (gain the second at level 11)
-2 Daily (different levels) (gain the second at level 21)
-3 Utilities (different levels) (gain one at level 11, the other at level 21)

Plus: A Wizard Skill and Arcana, Arcane Implement Mastery, Cantrips, Ritual Caster, Spellbook, and all the Implements. As well as the normal pluses from Templates.
