Dragonstar: Deep Space Campaign, Part One: Taken

Mossaka emits the slightest grunt as the object strikes his toe. He seems to be pondering the relationship between cause-and-effect of bending the metal flower and something popping out to strike his toe when Sasaki fires his stick.

The Drogre clasps both hands to the sides of his head and bellows, "ooooOOOOOOOWWWW! Dat's loud, Manbirdie!" He seems unhappy but not angry; more like whining than scolding.

When Fuzzyhead points another stick, Mossaka dusks down, more firmly pushes his ears, and squishes his eyelids shut. "STOOOP!"

Sasaki

"Hmpf. As I suspected, this is indeed a weapon." Sasaki will fashion a sling from one of his Kimono sashes and stow the rifle over his shoulder.

"I will scout the area from the air to make sure the noise has not attracted any unwelcome visitors. " Sasaki flaps his powerful wings several times as he rises into the air. Once a few hundred feet up, he will circle the area, looking for any movement on the ground.

Banwyl - Aims for the hole in the tree and attempts to shoot through it and amazingly the bolt passes through the hole and strikes another tree beyond with similar effects.

[DC 15 to target tree Atk role 11 + 8 (range) -4 (non-proficiency) = 15 a Hit!]

Kaalek casts detect magic. Though none of the objects recently uncovered shows any magical auras a number of auras appear around your companion's equipment.

Horatio discovers that there are six objects, enough for everyone. You can see that by pressing the trigger located near the handle causes it to fire. There is already a strap of some unknown material attached to the object to carry it with. The only marks you find read Lastech Industries and a small window on the top glows in red and reads the number 20.

Mossaka cringes as second blast fired by Banwyl ignites another tree.

Sasaki The object already possesses a shoulder strap. As Sasaki initially gains altitude he sees the immediate area is clear.

Horatio happens to glance over at the now opened cylinder just as the blinking blue light stops and turns a solid red. The remaining weapons are ejected onto the ground, one of them striking Mossaka on the head as he crouches nearby. Then the cylinder dissolves right before his eyes and disappears.

As Sasaki continues his ariel recon, he is surprised to see a large creature suddenly appear on the edge of the clearing. The horrid beast resembles a bear crossed with a squid, slimly mauve skin covers a massive body, with a head the sprouts several tentacles. It immediately charges at the group.

The purple creature charges Mossaka who is crounched down with his back to the creature. Black claws rake his back but have no effect on the drogre's scaled hide.

DM: Ok Combat begins. Surprise round over. Initiatives are:

Mossaka 9
Sasaki 10
Horatio 22
Tenos 24
Kaalek 10
Banwyl 22
Creature 12

Tenos uncoils his whip dagger, then lashes out at the cthuloid bear.

Damn, wish I knew how those flame-casters worked he thinks. It would definitely come in handy about now...

Horatio points the flame caster at the thing and fires.

Then looks at the weapon again to see that it has not sprouted demon wings and such to possibly hurt him with.

Kaalek and Quarrop will both withdraw slowly as Kaalek casts Mage Armor on himself/both of them.

Quarrop will attempt to zap the beast with a Ray of Frost.

"Simply amazing," Banwyl muses as he looks down at the number 19 glowing in red on the lightstick. Hearing Mossaka bellow, he looks up and catches sight of the bear creature and fires on it with his new weapon.

Sasaki

If the creature is not engaged in melee combat when it is Sasaki's turn, he will fire his new boomstick. If the creature is in melee he will draw his Katana and dive/charge the creature, giving a fierce battle cry.

Tenos (Init 24): Tenos' whip-dagger lashes out just above Mossaka's crouched form and slices a line across the beast's shoulder which oozes black ichor.

[Atk roll 7 + 11 range -4 (in melee) = 14. A Hit, 6 Dmg]

Horatio (Init 22): Horatio nervously aims and fires at the purple creature, the red bolt, streaking above Mossaka's head, burns a hole completely through the creature, killing it.

[Atk roll 17 + 5 range -4 (in melee) -4 (non-proficiency) = 14. A Hit, 22 Dmg]

DM: Ouch! Lucky shot Horatio. Kaalek mage armor cast and in effect. Round One over.

As the squid-bear collapses dead all of you can see it dissolve into nothing and fade away. Then each of you hears a second beep coming from all around you as suddenly two more beasts appear in your midst both larger then the previous one.

DM Combat continues as new foes enter the fray, same init as before. New Beasts initiatives are 21. Round Two.

OOC: Tenos has Precise Shot, negating the -4 penalty for missile attacks against an in-combat foe. Also, with the whip dagger, it's 1d6+6 damage, with a BAB of +12. My character sheet is slightly misleading - see the line:

+1 masterwork mighty (+2) whip dagger (Attack: +12/1d6 + 1 (enhancement) + 2 (mighty) + 2 (point blank shot) + 1 (bracers of archery) = 1d6 + 6 ) (2625 gp)

And note the bold.

My bad for not being more clear about what I was doing. :P

IC: Tenos briefly glances around, trying to figure out where the beeping is coming from. He doesn't take long, and if necessary, tumbles out of reach of the bears, then lashes one and urges his compatriots, "Focus on my target!"
