Draw Steel the MCDM RPG!

It's a good name, but the best thing about it is the game. I've skimmed the Patreon packet and it looks AMAZING. Lots of narrative stuff combined with solid tactical choices, so almost like a 4E game with the necessary storytelling tools to create awesome fantasy stories at the table.

Tonight we'll get together with some friends to do character creation and we'll ve playing in the following weeks, so I'm very excited! 😁🖤
Really hoping Matt is able to stick to his recent promise to put out a playable packet to the actual backers in August, though I guess that's less likely if they're only just getting this one to Patreon subscribers.

I think the backers will get this packet really soon, as it looks solid enough to get a very good idea of what the final game will be. The delay in sharing this stuff is purely so backers don't build up expectations based on stuff that can/will be discarded in the brainstorming/playtesting process, according to Matt's comments on the matter.

My understanding is that this packet is the solid basis on which the rest of the game will be built upon and, as such, it'd make sense for MCDM to share it with backers ASAP 🤷‍♀️

I think there was a thing saying august, Patreon folks got an early version of one yesterday but only has the first level of the classes. Beyond that though there were some really impressive elements like the way skills are broken up & selected. Some of the other stuff looks nice too but I haven't had the time to do more than quick skimming

Really boring name, but at least it's not named after himself I guess? This really does make it sound like it's a game about like, Errol Flynn style swashbuckling or arena combat, and not at all the General DnD-esque Gameplay Milieu that it is.

My only (potential) problem with the name is the question of whether it reflects the game as intended to be played. That is, is Draw Steel actually an RPG with a heavy melee and martial focus? I don't know. I haven't been following the development.
Tactical combat is its primary focus.

I agree that's the primary focus... but based on past videos & the most recent packet would say that the social pillar definitely has some real crunchy support with an nice blend of new mechanics. Skills look pretty well developed with five groups (crafting, exploration, interpersonal, intrigue, and lore) each broken down into about a dozenish discrete skills rather than just being an afterthought. It unapologetically declares that it's not a dungeon crawler & one of the earlier packets outright suggested shadowdark if you are seeking one.

I don't know. I haven't been following the development.
unless you are on the patreon you will not have seen much yet, the first backer pack is going out in August
