Dresden Files RPG playtest reports

For those interested in the Dresden Files RPG, I have some juicy info for you. The Bleeding Edge alpha playtesters have received their packets of info, and are starting to play with the in-production game.

Evil Hat Productions did something very, very cool. While their playtesters signed an NDA, they also signed a Disclosure Pledge to share info about their non-rules specific info. So, I thought I would point you towards some of that, because I can't get enough of it. :)

First, Rick Neal has started a blog discussing all the stuff he can, including character sheets. I highly recommend you read the Character Creation post.

Cool.

I was hoping to see more about the magic system and less about applying aspects to the modern world (which I could have guessed about myself.)

I've never played (or seen) Spirit of the Century, so I thought the "Make your own Novel - and side-kick in another!" was a brilliant idea. The Aspects were pretty cool, too. :)

not entirely on-topic
but im watching the DVD's of the dresden files -
Props for good use of vampire tramp with Bianca although she seemed more white court than red.

I might also be interested in an RPG of Buchers Fantasy series.

We really wanted to get into this playtest but because none of us had any SotC experience we got passed over. I am hoping we can get into the next round as many of us are huge Dresden files (I have personally read all the books and seen every episode of the show). So crossed fingers for our gang to see what round two looks like.

Good luck dude. I don't have a group that'd run it, otherwise I'd pitch in for the BETA.

Thanks for getting this started, Rechan. I get like no time to make it over to ENWorld most days, and I'd completely missed this thread.

Psion, magic will be coming soon enough -- we've just (this past week) gotten the supernatural abilities stuff out to our bleeding alpha-testers and the spellcraft stuff's probably going to them in the next couple weeks (some final touches are getting put on it by the line developer -- items and artifacts, as usual, are the last sticky wicket).

Rick Neal's blog is particularly fantastic, with the sample mundane characters and so forth. Interesting stuff.

No prob, EH. I'm nuts over this, and as much as I bug Iago on his LJ, I thought I'd do some good and spread the word. Rick's got good stuff, and deserves the traffic.

Hope you guys figured out how to do that. I recall seeing on the JB Forums that Harry's shield bracelet was the biggest headache inducer for the designers.

We think we have the effects licked -- now it's a matter of reverse-engineering Harry's items to get the item construction rules feeling right.
