Drinks to try on my 21st?

Kamakaze on the rocks

Two hints for you:
1. Eat a good sized meal before you go drinking, it will slow the alcohol absorbtion and might keep you from getting sick fast as you will on an empty stomach.
2. For every drink that you have, drink at least 1 glass of water, if not 2 glasses. Alcohol dehydrates the body, and you'll be glad you drank all that water the next day when you have a little hangover instead of a huge "My skull is crushing my brain" hangover.

Whatever you do, DO NOT drink gin straight from a plastic bowl. I did that on my 21st birthday and haven't been able to touch the stuff since...

Silly Registered User, We all know Gin is supposed to be drunk from a bathtub!

I'm not sure if you can get them in the US, but my favourite pre-binge snack is a whole pack of Jaffa Cakes (there individual sponge cookies with some really orangy jam in them). They won't stop you being sick but the flavourings in the jam is so strong it won't taste as bad as it might on the way back up. (No really)

My faves:
- Long Island Iced Tea
- Rasberry Daquiri

I don't really like the strong taste of alcohol, and I found that, for me, these drinks go down real easy.

The Cosmopolitan seems to be a popular drink amongst the ladies also.

I have to agree with Crothian here. Alcohol is so over-rated.

Several years ago, I let down my inhibitions and decided to get drunk.

Here's the recipe I used:

empty stomach
3.5 beers
sips from a long-island tea
Tom Collins
3 double-shots of electric kamikazes

I nearly passed out several times, vomited at least once in the bathroom, and threw up some black stuff at 5 am in the next morning at my friend's apartment. Probably some part of my liver. Not sure. I didn't leave his house until 4:00 the next day.

I don't recommend it. :)

On a tangent, jeez, YOU ARE A KID! 21... wow.

On my 18th, I was in Penn. and had grain alcohol. I don't remember most of the night.

On my 21st, I was in the Bronx -- woke up the next morning and couldn't get out
of bed. Apparently I climbed
a tree and took a 10' fall flat on back (1d6 points
of damage.) I was able to get out of bed 2 days later. My hands were covered
in blood because I picked up florescent light-sticks from behind the school library
and dueled people with them.

So ... be careful!!!

If you can, take a nap before going out -- you'll have a better sense of pacing
yourself. Lots of starches beforehand. And see if you can get your hands
on those hangover pills -- you take them every 3 hours and wake up with
no hangover. If you can't find it, drink a quart of water and 2 aspirin *before* going
to bed.

Oh, and as for drinks, try any of the strange sounding shots -- fuzzy navel, or**sm,
sex on the beach, peanut butter& jelly, etc. They're sweet but pack a punch.
LI Iced Tea is a killer though -- if done right, it tastes like sweet iced tea but
smacks you down when you least expect it.

Have fun!

No offense but were you trying to give yourself the worst possible hangover? Beer + hard liquor + no food? Ugh - I wouldn't be surprised if it was your liver you hacked up!

Do NOT mixed hard liquor with beer or wine. Pick a group and stay with that. It may be a myth but my worse hangovers (and nights in general) came from mixing liquor and beer and/or wine. Bad combo.

That being said I don't drink anymore - health problems all but forbid it and to be honest it just wasn't my idea of a good time. I find I have more fun when I still have some control over my actions.

My first drink in a bar on my 21st, I told the bartender the occasion and asked him to fix me something yummy and strong. He gave me a Singapore sling. You could do worse, believe me.

Make sure at some point you take a shot of Jagermeister, assuming you don't hate black licorice.

Goldschlager might be another good choice. Yummy, with flakes of gold.
