Drive doesn't recognize change in discs

I just installed a new DVD burner and have noticed a problem.
When I change discs in the drive, the name of the new disc isn't shown.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks.

I had the same problem with my CD-ROM a few years back. Well, it wasn't exactly the same, because mine started doing it after about a year and a half of use, instead of right out of the box.

I eventually had to just replace the drive because I couldn't find anybody who knew how to fix it.

OK, I've sort of fixed it.

Went into the registry (HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom) and set the value of the Autorun key to 1.

Its not a perfect solution, because I don't really want to autorun every CD I put in the drive, I just want to update the information displayed for the drive.

So if anyone has an idea, let me know.

Thanks

I had a problem with some DVD games not being read by my DVD drive. I had to update the firmware for the DVD drive. You might want to try that.

Usually, just go to the site of the company of the site that makes your drive, and they should have a program that will update the firmware for you.
