That has not been my experience.

Nor mine.
More importantly, the legacy interface for my library plays much nicer with several bits of hardware I use.

The legacy site plays better with a lot of basic functionality on every browser and machine I've tried. So I've been familiar with the legacy url for a while. They finally gave it to me after I complained enough and found enough issues shortly after they released the new site. They said it was only temporary, but it's still around, and my problems still exist...

They told me about it before they went live with the new site system as the main page. I may have been part of a test group. I did give (fairly negative) feedback during the trial period.
