Druid class that focuses on Wildshape exclusively?

I was wondering if there was a class that focused on wildshape exclusively. Get wildshpae at lvl 1-3, foregoing spells. Not a prc mind you, a core class. Is there any class that matches this description?

Nothing "Core" core... you might want to ask the folks in House Rules forum; creating New Core Classes is what they do all day long.

If you're okay with a PrC, try the Shifter from Masters of the Wild.

I've been itching to try that one since the book came out. (Darn character longevity.

yah, that is a cool prc. What I'm really looking for is a character that can sue wild shape right from the get-go.

Check my website. DL the document at the New Classes! link. The primalist is my attempt to do what you're asking about. The class has seen some playtesting, and seems relatively sound, but I'm sure some changes are necessary.

You could also try to make the Shifter "Frame" to a core class. You probably have to stretch some of the abilities (which is fine, since no prerequisites are required, and wildshaping is quite powerful - maybe to powerful for early levels) over the levels, but it should work.

You could twist the rules in Character Customization to allow the Wild Shape track to start at level 1, instead of 5. It's not in the book but once you know the system for tweaking classes, finding a balanced way to do what you want is possible. Check my sig for a link. And if you have any other variant classes you'd like to see, it handles them too.
