Druid help (Help me, a poor n00b to the Druid)

First Post
So last night my lvl 2 Paladin drowned, so I made a new charecter. I wanted to play something I've never played, so I chooose you human druid. He's 2nd level, and I took the feats Scribe Scroll and Specasting Prodigy(Druid). I can use feats from any of the splat books, I don't own the Barbarian/Druid/Ranger book (thats the next book I was going to purcahse). So what are some good feats for Druids? I want to be able to use Wild Shape to the best advantage. I took scribe scroll because I really like scrolls :)

For his background story I was going to have him raised by wolves before a group of druids found him (and his animal companion is a wolf). And of course, every 2 levels he'll get another wolf to join him :)

if there's no other ranger or tracker in your group take track, it fits the wolf background; spell themantics is a fun and usefil feat; if you want to take a scroll type item creation feat, wait till you can get create infusion(wilderness lore 4 ranks, spellcaster level 3rd) they act somewhat like scrolls but are rather mixtures of herbs and such that you activate by eating, fits the raised by wolves motief much better.

Hammy? Strange name... hrmrmr...

Druids do best to stay a little more out of combat till they get to levels where they can wild shape. Buy a decent ranged weapon you happen to be proficient in, and try to make your best with it. Druids don't come into their own till level 7 in my experience, so you might lag behind the wizards and sorcerers who pick up at level 4-6 and the fighters that are permanently ready for action. Just wait it out. I don't really have any special feats to recommend, but taking Track to make up for a lack of a Ranger could be an excellent choice.

If you want your Druid to be a wild-shaper, a good feat from Masters of the Wild (the druid splatbook) is Wild Spellcasting. Lets you cast spells while in wild shape, and the only prereq (I think) is the ability to Wild Shape. Circling high in the air as an eagle, out of bowshot range, dropping Call Lightning spells on your enemies. It's a beautiful thing...

The Feat F5 is thinking of is Natural Spell, It requires the ability to Wildshape and Wis13. I really recommend it.

Other feats from Masters of the Wild

If your thinking about Track you might want to instead grap Scent. Must have the WildShape ability to become a Wolf, and Wis 11

In the Core rules I really don't recomend any Metamagic, just not worth it.

In the End though, it's all up to you....

oh my, advice from Vadania!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I was looking at Track. I'm going to max out wilderness lore, so... yeah, it seemed. Maybe I'll get Master of the Wild for Christmas... but, yeah. Thanks. Any other good ones in MotW?

Another book to look into (and please don't feel I'm disparging MotW, it's probably one of the better books in the series), is the Quintessinal Druid by Mongoose Publishing. Just for ideas/feats and things.

(wishes that the S&SS player's guide to Clerics and Druids would be out sooner then July, but that's how that goes...)

What, so you could throw more Scarred Lands advice out for 'im? ;)

I second the infusion idea - it doesn't make sense to me, thematically, that someone raised with wolves would be the biggest fan of scrolls & other texts. On the other hand, he could be absolutely fascinated with civilization, and struggling to balance that with his natural ferocity...

For starters. ;) But mainly because the new feats for Druids might interest him. Unlike Wild feats, Primal feats will be a little more...well primal. ;)
