Druids and heavy armor

Are alloys better for making weapons/armor in your campaign (if enough is found), or will your natural alternatives be as effective?

I never knew Druids weren't allowed to wear crystal armor. Learn something new every day. But why is that? Because it's inorganic? Does that mean they can't wear stone armor, or is it just crystal and metal they can't wear?

I'd guess it's the inorganic thing, yeah. So, I'd tend to say no stone armor, either.

Mainly for balance, I think, but the reason being, it's alchemically formed. Although alchemy can be used in some ways for some items, apparently shaping crystal in that fashion makes the armor unsuitable. Perhaps it technically their oaths against smelting or something.
