Druids in Dragonhide Plate

"By the Book", would a Druid need Armor Proficiency: Heavy to wear Dragonhide Plate?

Dragonhide doesn't change the fact that plate is heavy armor and druids don't get heavy armor proficiency, so yes, they would need the proficiency to avoid the penalties.
