Mikara, being first to discover the scene, lets fly at her fleeing quarry with two arrows in rapid succession

The orc screams in pain as one shaft buries itself in his calf causing him to limp and bleed profusely.

"The foul creature's hit,

Magnus perked up as the cry of the feathered orc drifted through the trees.

Ooo...it's started...it's started...

Almost as if on a whim the grubby dwarf clambered out of his hiding place and trotted through the forest towards the sound with dwarven speed.

The orc looks behind him to see Magnus charging at it and hobbles faster towards the portal. Its wound is slowing it down a lot, but it's almost there!

Because it's slowed, Magnus can reach it with either a run action, giving him a standard action at -5 to hit, or with a standard move and then a charge. Or a double move, but then you don't get another action this "round". So, what you just posted was your move action, and you can post another standard action now.

Everyone else gets one turn's worth of actions before the orc can go again! Assume it's 7 squares away from all of you, so unless you have speed 7, you're in the same situaion as Magnus. Also the gate is 10 squares away from you if you want to interact with it.

Vrrsk't hears Mikara's cry for aid and sets off at a sprint to find the "foul creature" she is yelling about. He lumbers through the underbrush behind Magnus, the fire in his eyes matched by the thin line of smoke trailing from one of his nostrils.

"We're coming!" he bellows.

As he enters the clearing, he sees the wounded orc scrambling to get to the portal, fighting through the pain of the arrow in its leg. Determined to not let the foul beast escape, he circles around the limping creature and interposes himself between it and the portal.

As he steps in front of the fleeing creature, he snarls at it, "Look not to that gateway for your escape, foul thing! Your future is not through that portal... you face your fate now, at my hand!" He then attempts to grab the orc to keep it from escaping.

Double move to get around the orc, directly between it and the portal (yay non-Euclidian 4e geometry). Minor action for Divine Challenge. Action point for a Grab attempt (haven't drawn a weapon yet).

The orc throws itself backwards, narrowly escaping the dragonborn's grasp. But it's lost its momentum, and now there's a looming enemy between it and the portal. Its eyes dart back and forth, fearfully seeking an escape.

The portal begins to pulse and black spots appear within its light.

As the girl, and presumably the ring, disappear through the portal Kamotz rushes forward after the ring. He watches the orc bleeding and regrets signing the contract to go after the band, Death was close for that one.

He also notes that Death is already among them, trying to crystalize the moment for later recovery. The single red boot left on the body looked especially crisp.
 

Kamotz rushes past the dwarf and hurls himself into the portal. There is a tremendous flash of light that burns his eyes, and he finds himself...

...lying on your back in a clearing that looks suspiciously like the one you just left, where someone who looks suspiciously like Vrissk't is struggling with a suspiciously familiar looking orc. On the far side of the clearing is a portal that looks EXACTLY like the one you just came through!

Kamotz hits the portal's surface and bounces off. The portal pulses with a glow of eldritch energy and emits a horrible crackling, snapping sound, and sends Kamotz flying in a graceful arc to land in a heap on the far side of the clearing. After a moment he shakes his head slightly as he regains consciousness.

OOC: just Morvannon left to act, and Magnus gets another action if he wants.

Magnus raised his staff, tracing a whirling pattern with the crooked end of it as though trying to stir the air. All his keys clanked together in a discordant jingle, and for a brief instant an invisible breeze passed over him.

Eeeehehehe.

The air around the orc began to swirl, and sun glinted off small shards that had ripped themselves loose from nothing.

Cloud of Daggers: +4 vs Ref (1d20+4=21)
Force Damage (1d6+4=7), and any creature that enters the area or starts its turn there takes force damage equal to your Wisdom modifier (3 Damage). The cloud remains in place until the end of your next turn. You can dispel it earlier as a minor action.

If in the event that my damage should be enough to kill it, I'd rather knock it out.
