Mikara yells from her vantage point at the edge of the clearing....

"Vrrsk't! Try for the bag!
The orc's carrying a bag!
The ring might be there!"

Mikara looks around and realizes that Morvannon is nowhere in sight.

Typical. Breeding with humans makes us so soft.

"Where are you Morvannon you half-breed whelp!?
The foe just one orc and yet you hide!
Quick show your face you coward! Give us help!"

[sblock=OOC:]Turly, no offense to RBJ. In character, Mikara is a little bigotted against humans and half-elves.

On a more technical note, RBJ hasn't been logged in for a while. In the interest of wrapping things up, should we continue without Morvannon (no offense RBJ)? If he jumps back in that's OK with me, but the rest of us can't keep waiting to finish this up. [/sblock]

I agree with continuing. RBJ was into moving this along just as much as everyone else.

Once he gets back and see's Morvannon has been freed up I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

I would go so far as to say, if JoeNotCharles NPC'd some minor stuff he wouldn't mind. At least it would clear Morvannon of any accusation of cowardice.

However I am not RBJ and I could be completely wrong... I tried to PM him, not sure if it went through... Anyone have any better ideas?

I emailed him the other day, haven't gotten a response. I'll be posting again this afternoon (gotta go make brunch now) so I'll NPC him if he hasn't posted by then.

Almost as if the orc realizes that Mikara has taken her eyes off it, it suddenly dashes to one side and darts around Vrssk't's grasp, heading for the portal. Although it's now bleeding both from dozens of tiny dagger cuts and from the arrow in its calf, it manages to get past both the dragonborn and the cloud of daggers and keep running.

Just as it takes its third step, Morvannon steps from the woods, raising a rigid hand to point at the orc, staring at it intently and whispering intensely: "No, not that way. Nothing but death awaits you there! Can't you see the - AAAAH!"

Morvannon sags back, holding his head.

[sblock=Morvannon]
Your spell is abruptly cut short, snapping back on you, and the voice of your elemental patron echoes in your head: "Not that one. It is protected by a bargain. You may do as you wish, but my hands are tied.
[/sblock]

Morvannon staggers to his feet, grits his teeth, and reaches his hand out again. This time a wave of fire washes over the orc, which stumbles and falls to its knees. The bag drops from its hand, spilling gold across the ground. It makes a feeble grasp at the gold, then gives it up and hurls itself forward through the portal, which closes behind it with a loud SNAP.

You're left alone in the clearing with nothing but Dennis's body, the spilled sack of loot, and a strange circle of symbols scratched in the dirt.

[sblock=OOC]
Morvannon acts:
Minor action: Warlock's Curse on the orc
Standard action: Curse of the Dark Dream on the orc, which if it hits will let him slide it away from the portal. It misses with a natural 1
Action point: Needing to use a non-Warlock power, he casts Scorching Burst on the orc, which hits for 8 damage plus 6 curse damage.

Start of the orc's turn. Its now taken 14 (arrow) + 7 (cloud of daggers) + 14 (scorching burst) = 35 damage, bloodying it. It takes 5 more ongoing from the arrow (40 damage), and 3 more for starting in the cloud of daggers (43 damage)... leaving it with 3 hit points left. So close!

Kamotz stands, and immediately begins searching Dennis and noting each feature of his character. He makes notes on what he learned about the Red Boot in life. How he died, and what his fate may be.

:lol:Critical Perception 26:lol: includes +1 from Mikara being near.
