Dude Where's My Ring? (DM: garyh, Judge: Ozymandias79)

[sblock=OOC to all]I hope I'm not leaving anyone out at present.

I haven't been waiting for everyone, because I don't intend to force everyone to make a skill check that's guaranteed to result in failure... after all, if the party has a smooth-tongued devil then they wouldn't realistically send an unqualified person to "sweet talk" someone.

That being said, I still would like everyone to RP ways for your character to be useful... with assists to rolls and such. If I do start going too fast, then let me know... and I'll slow it down.

BTW, thanks to everyone so far. I think I might be enjoying this DMing thing more than playing.[/sblock]

Mikara, having found potential prey, discreetly slips back to alert those in her pack more able to bring down the quarry.

[sblock=OOC:]That means she goes back to tell the others. Specifically Kamotz and Morvannon because of their heightened diplomatic talent.[/sblock]

[sblock=Skill Checks:]
Stealth (to get away unnoticed):1d20+9 = 17
Perception (to find Morvannon and Kamotz): 1d20+10 = 30 WooWoo![/sblock]

Only one of each you say...

Let us have the artist come to us then, one of us must have a steady enough hand to sit and begin sketching. Two of us can pose, and the rest can form a queue of "customers". If that does not provoke our artist to come to us, we shall simply keep an eye on them and follow them home, so that our line of questioning doesn't reach unwanted ears.

Any other plan? Some of you seem to know this place better than Mikara and I.

[sblock=OOC] This is the first thing that jumped into my head, I'm open for other suggestions, one that doesn't involve the city watch possibly asking us for our permit to peddle...[/sblock]

"It's an interesting idea. I don't think I'm your man, though -- the only time I can manage to draw a decent circle is when I'm trying to draw a square."

Mikara turns to Marvonnan,

"At this, I think that I could try my hand.
It seems that nimble fingers could create
some pictures pleasing to these travelers' eyes.
With unfamiliar Nature's touch, they would appeal
to those who live so long in urban gloom.
Have we sticks of 'char coal' with which to draw?
Or parchment on which I could make a mark?"

I have parchment. Your welcome to it. As for charcoal, I'm unsure. The faster we get done with this, the closer we are to reaching that ring, and the more likely mortal danger will find us. Or mortals who wish danger upon themselves. Either way this gets us closer to my goal, and our goal.
I'll try to gather some driftwood that isn't too soaked, someone else will have to find the means to burn it, as my flint won't produce near enough heat.
It's entirely possible someone here can conjure fire...

Kamotz begins picking at the flotsam for good driftwood. Finding plenty of wood, but having no idea what qualifies it as good charcoal...

18 perception and 8 nature, checks to assist Mikara Roll Lookup[/sblock]

Mikara produces a pitch-covered torch from her pack.

"I think for fire, this torch would well suffice.
The wood's too wet for now, I'll try elsewhere.
My arrow's made of wood, and it will burn."

Not waiting for Kamotz, Mikara sits down on the pavement by the waterfront, produces flint and steel, and proceeds to light the torch.

Hoping to produce a viable drawing tool (while Kamotz searches for driftwood), she takes an arrow from her quiver, breaks it in half and holds it over the torch until it begins to burn.

"I hope my skill is apt to do the trick."

[sblock=Skill Check:]Nature = 1d20+5 = 21[/sblock]

Kamtoz comes back with a handful of waterlogged wood, smiling like he's done something useful.

He eyes the work that Mikara is in the middle of and discreetly drops the wood as he comes up.

Pulling up his hood to conceal the embarrassed look on his face, he sidle' over toward Mikara and stays silent. Falling into his own thoughts.

I hope no one noticed my attempt at charcoal... It's not like I've seen fine art before or anything, but it was still rather silly... Where did Magnus and Tristan go? I bet they are off killing things, I should have gone with them, I may be missing glorious murders.
Morvannon seems to be the only sane one here, I wonder why he sticks around... He said he needed money. I'm not likely to see Death around the sane one, and Mikara will probably only kill when it's for food or defense. I should go find Magnus and Tristan...

Has anyone seen Magnus or Tristan since the Harbormasters?
