Dude Where's My Ring? (DM: garyh, Judge: Ozymandias79)

Mikara looks up politely at the man in red boots, and puts down her "charcoal."

"Apologies kind sir, as you can see,
I'm not as skilled at art as hope would need.
I'm not aware of any gold I've made,
but if there's gold, you're welcome to your share.

If money's not enough I will dessist.
I'm sure that my talent will not be missed."

Mikara looks to see (with little expectation) if anyone has thrown her so much as a copper. So far, her whimsical picture is all she has drawn, and I'm sure that it doesn't stand much chance at fetching a price. If anyone has been gracious enough to toss money at her, she offers it to the man.

Otherwise, she begins to roll up the parchment as if to hand it to the man.

"What is your name kind sir, and may I ask
who are these Goghs of whom you speak?"

"Vinnie! That's right, that was the name. *Thank* you! You wouldn't happen to know where I could find him, do you? Or would this Dennis know, maybe? I've got a line on a decent commission I could send his way..."

Finally noticing her pale countenance, Morvannon stumbles a bit on his next words.

"...erm...are...are you all right there, miss?"
Both you and Magnus notice that she relaxes considerably with your words, "A potential commission, then? So you weren't looking for Gw... good, I mean. Money. An artist always has an interest in money..." She moves away from the bin she had moved to block, and takes a rag from her belt to wipe her hands and dab at her forehead... leaving a smear of charcoal just below her hairline.
"Well, I haven't seen Vin for... well, I'm not exactly sure. He hasn't been around to man the booth for so long, that the days all seem to blend into each other. All I know is that 'The Goghs' are going to have to find another charcoalist soon, so I can get a day off."

"I'm known as Ribeye around these parts, but that's not really important... now, 'The Goghs', that's what is important," he takes a second to see if Mikara picks up on his emphasis. "They're the guild for the street artists in 'The Commons'. Everyone has a guild, even the street kids've got one, and every guild has a job. If everyone does their job right, then 'The Commons' run smoothly, and the nobles can feel safe coming down here to go 'slumming'... and the money keeps pouring in. We 'Redboots'..." he stops again to indicate his footwear "...are contracted by the guilds to help enforce the established 'order'... and, see, by setting up your little booth, you have created competition... which threatens that order." He gives you a hard-case look before continuing, "Kapeesh?"
He comes around to take a look at your work with an unskilled, appraising eye "Ya know?... I heard that the Goghs are looking for another charcoal artist to give Matilda a break. If you're interested you might want to go talk to her..." and then Ribeye indicates, with a gesture, the woman that Morvannon is speaking to.

Oh yeah... and it seems that Ribeye is going to hang out here watching you until you decide to move on.
[sblock=OOC]Let me know when Kamotz happens upon the conversation with Tristan, Mikara, and the Red Boot[/sblock]
[sblock=OOC to Kamotz]This stuff is sort of occuring simultaneously with each other. You are currently having a parlay with your Poe Eye, and one of his companions alerted a redboot about the 'unauthorized artist' while you were bringing down your quarry. I imagine that everyone will be coming back together soon...[/sblock]

Tristan glances over to where Magnus and Morvannon are talking to Matilda, then returns to the red boot.

"Well, we certainly don't want trouble. But a single artist for all this area? That seems odd. Have you lost one recently?"

"There's only one of each type of artist in the area... and we haven't lost any, and I'm not really at liberty to be discussing this sort of business with strangers. Now... if you'll be on your way, I can be on mine."

[sblock=OOC]:( aaaaw, I wanted to have some interaction with the Red Boots!;) Great "Cross" adventure character building there SeaPainter!:D[/sblock]

"I'm not sure I understand...you're only here when this Vinnie isn't? Hmm. Do you think these 'Goghs' might know where I could find him? Or wait, you said he has a brother?"

[sblock="OOC"]Diplomacy check (+8): 28. Boo-yah.[/sblock]

Mikara rolls up her parchment, and looking at it says:

"I guess I should submit my resume.
Where is this Matilda of whom you speak?
Could you accompany me there yourself?"

[sblock=Skill Check:]Diplomacy = 1d20 + 0 = 13 [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC:] Just for clarity, she's talking to Ribeye[/sblock]

"Well... yes. I mean, no. I... well... we take turns working the streets down here, and all 'The Goghs' know about Vinnie, is that he's taken some time off due to 'family matters'." She scratches her head for a moment, spreading the black smear on her forehead. "Vinnie's brother, Dennis, is one of the Redboots... he's the one who set up the security contract with the guilds. Now that I think of it... haven't seen him for a while either..." she rubs the side of her nose, leaving a black smudge in her finger's wake.
