Duellist's Precise Strike

Hypersmurf

Moderatarrrrh...
Rules-legal for use with hand crossbow, shuriken, darts?

While it's called "precise" strike, there's no note that it's limited to within 30' like other forms of precision damage... legal from 40 feet away?

Well, by the wording, yes...

By the flavor of the class, though, I wouldn't allow it with ranged weapons. Or the halfspear. Or the siangham.

If you were inclined to allow it, though, the name "Precise Strike" indicates that you need precision to operate it. It's mechanically similar to Sneak Attack... so I'd say it has to be within 30', at least.

I thought it was an ability that functioned only with what the duelist is required to have as Weapon Focused. A one-handed, light, piercing weapon. I have no problem with siagham, but short spear is definitely not "light" for most PCs. I believe it also states you may not have anything in your other hand as well.

It says any one-handed piercing weapon. Technically, the Rapier isn't a light weapon, either-- it's a special exception to the rule that Weapon Finesse can only be applied to light weapons.

As written, yes the damage goes out as far as you can hit with the weapon.

The general sage ruling on precision damage after 30' should be applied I would think. That might fall under house rule, but probably not.

Personally, I would think the ability was meant to apply to melee weapons, and would house rule it appropriately.
