This is my exact feeling. There are some interesting things, but its very slow going and I'm not really sure where its heading. I'll continue to watch because I love Dune, but I'm not truely sure I am enjoying this. I don't hate it, but I don't know if I like it either.

Just into the third episode. I'm enjoying it, and still curious about the mysteries they're pursuing. A touch surprised about a character's fierce loyalty. So far it feels like the universe of Dune to me.

Yep. I have a rule of thumb: Short Season, Long Break Between Seasons, Cliff-hangers; 1 of the three is fine, 2 of the three will not make me happy, all 3 and it will be very hard to keep me interested as the new season finally rolls around.
I love the Dune Universe enough that I will watch it regardless. But there have been shows that by the time the new season came out, I no longered remembered the cliff-hanger and didn't have enough interest anymore to catch back up.
Ultimately I felt about Dune Prophecy mostly how I felt about the last season of HotD.
A strong start that just kind of meandered too much and by the end I was going "ok...so that's it?"
the show did nothing "bad", nothing I point to and rage at because it was stupid or ruined a character or anything like that. It just felt like a lot of potential that wasn't fully utilized.
That said, I do give the season finale credit for shoring up two "plotholes" I was worried about.
1) How do you keep a secret as big as "What happened to Sister Dorotea" in a place filled with truthsayers?
2) How was the voice (which was a major major power unlock at that point in the world) not used to make some major power shifts?
And the finale solved both of those at the same time. Valya's sect used the voice to basically eradicate the opposition and therefore silence any question or concern....works for me! You could still argue that with the voice the Sisterhood could be a lot more aggressive in its plans but I can respect they have a very long term vision and know that while the voice would work in the short term, if they pushed all it takes is a few ships to wipe them out.
I thought the scene of Valya "confessing" to the Emperor a bit eye brow raising. Considering how careful the sisterhood is normally, that seemed an incredible risk. Valya herself admitted there was a piece on the board they were not seeing, revealing your master plan like that is for when you have everything good and so locked down there is no hope of anyone stopping not....not in the middle of a plan that has real risks and unknowns. There had to be easier ways to get arrested than to spill your entire master plan to the guy in charge.
I did like how the Emperor after this revelation, decided that the one thing he had control over....was to end his own life (which is what Valya wanted anyway). That in his one moment of freedom his decision was....to give up. He truly was a weak man.

Finished it. Thought the writing wasn't terribly great. I got the same feels from this that House of Dragon did. That its riding coattails of the original IP. I do like the cast alot, and thought otherwise the execution was good. Probably needed another two episodes to percolate a bit more.

Just got HBO back and binged this in a couple of days. Loved it. Dune is really kicking Star Wars butt all over the place right now. Really goes to show how when a studio trusts talented creatives to run with their vision, something great can get made.
Gonna need to go back and re-watch the first two films now. Can't wait for both the third film and the 2nd season of this.
