The fans on the WOTC board thread have a large fan made free .pdf of the rules they've worked on. I looked at it for a bit but a friend of mine who is a HUGE Dune fan and gamer said WOW..this is great :)

The download URL should be in one of the first couple of posts.

Mike

Sorry, can't find it - any clues to where I should be looking?

One of the posters has a URL in his sig for a D20une Yahoo! Group. If you join that group, you can download a 211 page PDF file, last updated in April 2006.

The previous Dune RPG was published by Last Unicorn Games in an extremely limited print run (around 1000 copies). When the company was purchased by WotC, the license didn't transfer. So, WotC was unable to further pursue it.

There never was any recall on the book. At GenCon it was simply a matter of LUG not having as many copies available as they could have sold.

Well, I've had a few ideas on what to do with char-gen on this one. Wonder what you guys think:

1.) A new step in char-gen, where you choose either a home planet or a affiliation (House, or guild or such) - this gives a class skill, skill bonus and or a feat

2.) The schools (Bene Gesserit, Thelaxu, Mentats) and stuff like Sardukar, Fedaykin should be Advanced classes.

Any comments?

I always thought Dune would do best with straight D&D rules. Either change it over to magical psuedo-medieval, or just assume that all the magic is psi or tech. The way folks mostly fight hand-to-hand, it never occured to me to use a sci-fi system.
