Frequently Asked Questions
  • Why isn't my favourite game nominated? Did you nominate it?
  • Why isn't my nomination on the list? Check the nomination thread. If you made a valid nomination (name, link) and it's not in the poll, let me know ASAP so I can add it. The most common reasons for a game's nomination being invalid is because it's already available. Check DTRPG and the publisher's own website and make sure you can't already buy it there.
  • Did I make a mistake? Almost certainly. I make a lot of mistakes. If you spot a game on the list which doesn't qualify (usually because it's already available!) let me know so I can remove it.
  • How does a game qualify? It must have been nominated by you in the nomination thread with a valid formatted nomination, it must be a standalone tabletop RPG (not a setting, adventure, supplement, etc.), and it's projected release date to the general public (not just Kickstarter backers) should be in 2026.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5e.

It looks like we could be getting a more streamlined version of 4e. Easier to track advantage, talents less complex, pared down meta currency. All good things.

Diablo -- loved the computer game for decades, super excited to see the RPG
Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork -- the best book series and has been begging to be turned into a really good RPG for years
Dungeon Crawler Carl -- recently turned onto Carl and excited to see how it turns out

Ars Magica Definitive Edition, for me. By some distance, honestly - it is a genuinely classic, all time Hall of Fame RPG and I’ve seen the PDF files of the new book. It is a big one.

I also really like Mongoose Traveller, so I’m also interested in Pioneer and Dark Conspiracy.

There is a flicker of interest in 50th Anniversary WFRP, but mainly because of the anniversary. Having ran the Enemy Within Campaign for the last couple of years (and now finished), I think the basic reason for the new edition is a major tidy up of the rules (which are very messy in the 4th edition as it stands) while still keeping it backwards compatible. This is admirable, but the timing for me isn’t good.

I think there is generally more interesting titles being suggested this year than last, to be fair to everything else, but I’m getting older….

EDIT: Oh, I’ve just noted that the 2nd edition of Toon is also coming out. I’ve backed this, so I thought I’d change my vote of Dark Conspiracy to that. So, Ars Magica Definitive Edition, Pioneer and Toon 2nd Edition are my vote.

I voted Apoc World Burned Over; Stonetop (again rofl); and Ex Tenebris - all things I backed. Pioneer I am also curious about; but will wait until it's released. I Handiwork's high quality rpg books as objects, and Jon Hodgson seems a standup business man - but the theme isn't my cup of tea this time.
