Dungeon 114 Cover

I didn't see anything wrong with the previous logo.
Don't know whether I like this one or not, but I can say it makes me feel nostalgic. Either that or my tap water is being drugged again. Damn shadow governments... If this were the early 80's I'd love it, without a doubt. Never have liked yellow or orange though and together they're worse.

Flat shaded orange and yellow text with a heavy retro font = "Peabody here, and this is the wayback machine."

I will say that putting the text in line with the barcode is a master-stroke. It's wasted space anyway because of the barcode so you'd might as well use the rest of it. Just let the cover artist know ahead of time not to bust his hump putting important details in that block.

EDIT: As far as the content is concerned; I don't use published adventures, as a result there is little reason for me to buy Dungeon. If they take all of the "DM-centric" articles out of Dragon, I won't have much reason to buy it either.

Don't know if you are still tracking this thread but I will offer up my opinions...

Overall I like it.

From a marketing standpoint the idea to make the logo intelligable (sp) was a good idea. As for it being to retro...who could care less. I can honestly say that in the entire history of me reading magazines that I have never looked at one and said...Whoah! That Logo Sucks! There is no way I am buying THAT.

The logo convey's the name of the magazine and it should make it easier to find at Borders on the bottom shelf behind EGM.

As to the Art, well that is good too. I am assuming (with tongue in cheek) that you wont being using the exact same cover for every issue from here on out so that should be fine. Wayne Reynolds can do no wrong in my book. I love his style, and I think having a group of tricked out characters doing some heroic over the top type action on the cover of a magazine that promotes a game that encourages tricked out characters getting together in groups and doing some heroic over the top type stuff a clever move.

As to the content, that is also a sensible move. It makes Dungeon appeal to a wider audience. I carry a subscription though I haven't actually done more than flip through the last ten issues, because all that it contained was adventures or info from living greyhawk or polyhedron. Now I am anxiously looking forward to getting some extra content. The adventures are still going to be in there, so that's good. I am sure, some day, I will use one. If I don't, I don't care, you still get my money (and I am okay with that).

Over all, I would say well done. Well done indeed.

I do have a question.

Have you placed guidelines on the adventure structure (he doesn't use adventures, yet he asks about them?!...hmmm)?

What I am curious about is if there will be one low level, one mid level, and one high level each issue, or have you even looked that far ahead? If so, what do you consider the level breakouts to be? I for one would like to see some epic support.
