Dungeon 144

I just took a look at the Ultraloth in Dungeon #141 and it was just an advanced ultroloth. I thought it was an actual revision.

But I am assuming from the talk here that the Arcanaloth from Dungeon #144 is an actual revision? Or is it just an advanced arcanaloth with class levels stuck on?

And yes, the order of yet-to-convert yugoloths updated to 3.5 should be:

Dhergaloth
Gacholoth
Hydroloth
Altraloth

(am I missing one? I hope not)

Now, actually, you can get all these done in one article if someone submitted a "Yugoloths as the BBEG" adventure module. Of all the adventures I've seen in Dungeon since 3E I haven't seen one of that scope. I really don't want to see another beholder BBEG one again.

As for the altraloths... I'm not sure what needs to be done there. That'd probably be best as its own article

i heard that someone i know very well is waiting to hear back on such a query. ;)

They wouldn't do as an isolated Wandering Monster at the back of an issue, that's for sure.

absolutely not! :)

Baernaloths haven't been converted yet.

However, that said, given their nature I'm of the opinion that there shouldn't be a generic Baernaloth stat block (yes, contrary to what 'Planes of Conflict' had to say on the matter). I'd handle them as each being unique individuals in the same manner as how there isn't a generic Lord of the 9, or generic Abyssal Lord monster stat block. But still, given their "bogeymen of the primordial Waste" status, they're probably best served with fluff and lore and not necessarily any stats (excepting perhaps for avatars, and even then, those would be difficult to peg down).

Who knows what ultimately will be done with them in 3.x, though the mention of them in FC:I was a nice touch.

Yeah, but until we see a hope for an FC3, a generic Baernoloth may be the only way to go for now.

The guardian yugoloths also remain unconverted.

Trust me...there's no way you could fit all the altraloths in an article with the other yugoloths. You'd be hard-pressed to even fit them all into a single article on their own.

No not the altraloths. I mean a Dungeon adventure involving yugoloths and posting in the appendix an updated Hydroloth, Dhergaloth, Gacholoth, and Guardian Yugoloths and one Altraloth. :D They've done it before...Castle Maure anyone?

And it can build a higher interest in the 'loths, too.

The ultraloth in MM3 is fine, it's just underpowered. Advancing it works fine. Not so with the arcanaloth. It's base stats and powers don't scale properly by adding Hit Dice, and it was 3.0 as well (unlike the ultraloth). So the arcanaloth in in the latest Dungeon is indeed a fully revised creature. It's also one with several class levels, so I'm afraid you'll have to do some reverse engineering to refine it back down to its base stats. For now. Chances are near 100% that I'll be able to put the updated arcanaloth stat block sans class levels in an upcoming issue.

A few points about this issue.

First of all, damn you Shemmy! After years of cavorting around with an incorrect screenname, you now have the Dungeon people making your mistake! The arcanaloth in this issue is said to work for "Shemeska" the Marauder, instead of the correct "Shemeshka!"

And also, James Jacobs noted in the Prison Mail column:

Unfortunately, the list that it sounds like you're looking for - a complete list of all deities created for D&D from all campaigns - doesn't exist. Indeed, the thought of the research required to compile such a list kinda gives me the shakes.

For something that doesn't exist, I've been working pretty hard on the Gods List for almost two years now.

*blink* I'm almost positive that the h was there when I'd mentioned the character. I spell it differently in my campaign and storyhour (with the long story behind it OOC), and I even made her writeup on Planewalker dance around the topic, but it was Shemeshka in the Planar Handbook already in 3e, and again I would have stayed with that unless there was a typo along the way somewhere, or just some honest confusion with my online handle, which I suppose is possible.

The proper spelling in canon has an h though unless it's going to be written down that she changed her name. That's my view at least, my own campaign's material notwithstanding.
