Dungeon 164 - Scales of War 9: Haven of the Bitter Glass

You guys are kind! Thank you; I've been nervous.

But credit where credit is due: the ballistae rules originally come from one of the official WotC adventures, and Dungeon's editor-in-chief Chris Youngs (who holds the vision of where the adventure path is going) did fantastic development on my skill challenges. Heck, he also made my monster names better. If the role of a developer and editor is to make the author's work better, he knocked it out of the park.

But I'm happy by how the adventure came out. I'm hoping it's as much fun to play as I think it will be.

I haven't had a chance to read it in depth, I'll read on the way home tonight. Skimming though, I like some of the environmental terrain elements you have, like the shipwreck scene or the city scene / pit scene with vagabonds.

Last comment... This adventure is HUGE. Holy smokes, 83 pages! Have you no life?

The newest adventure is up. And guess what...it's authored by our very own Piratecat:

Dungeon Adventure: Haven of the Bitter Glass

I only had a chance to skim it this morning, but it looks great.

My very own Piratecat???

SWEET DEAL! Does it have kung-fu action grip, or come with any interchangeable parts? Then again I might leave it in the original packaging for collector's value and what not. :P

Haven't read the adventure yet, but I plan to!

How did you manage to get an adventure in/write it/et al, especially with Chris Young?

I know Ari is a freelancer for WotC, but Piratecat?

Holy Piles of Awesome, Batman!

I read through the adventure during work (Shh! Don't tell anyone!) and I have to say, this adventure captured my imagination right off the bat. Don't want to get too much into specifics since players of the SoW campaign are reading the thread, but holy crap for crap, PC wrote 83 pages full of win.

The only bad part is that my group is about to start the first SoW adventure, so who knows how long it will be until we finally get to this adventure.

Kudos PirateCat, job very well done!

Downloaded it (pleased that my 1 month subscription to DDI gets me PHB2 AND PCA1 (PirateCatAdventure1) :)

As I'm playing a Githyanki wizard exile in a 4e game I'm hoping that I might gain some fun inspiration for him as a PC too.

Cheers!

good golly. With that black bar at the top, how many pages of just black ink does this one adventure require me to print.

The dungeon adventures may be nice, but I can't afford to print them.

This adventure is pretty awesome. Makes me wish I was running SoW, and this is the first adventure to make me wish that.

Spoilers below:
Minor Quibble. It's not terribly clear exactly how things happen when the PCs first come to Sayre, a timeline would have been really helpful here (unless I missed one).

Major possibility: What if the players don't destroy the bitter glass? It's a powerful communication tool that they can take offline at will. If I was a PC I wouldn't be inclined to smash such a powerful tool.
