Dungeon magazine says maybe more vile. Huzzah!

Or perhaps they could print the information seperately and distribute it to mature(17+) readers when the purchase is made. I.E. if you show ID you get an additional packet along with the core magazine. Subscribers would get it automatically if they are of appropriate age. This seems to be the best way to go, to me at least.

I'd be very surprised if it's financially or practically viable for Paizo, their distributors, or retailers, though. I don't think that's the way the magazine industry works at all.

Actually I agree that sealing the section does nothing but call attention to it and it makes a mess of my pages. Besides, unless they actually put something in that is objectionable, which the section in Dragon was not, they shouldn't bother "sealing" out no one except those who are unable to operate a pair of scissors.

Such is the way things are becoming in america. When you begin to see such things as "REMOVE PLASTIC WRAPPER BEFORE TOASTING AND EATING" on a pop-tart, you know things are going downhill. Directions on how long to cook the damned thing i can understand, but they are just pointing out the obvious to cover their own corporate arses.

Frankly, I think the only reason 90% of all "vile" material is an issue is because the magazine pointed out that it was vile.

Most of the stuff in the relevant issues of Dragon and Dungeon wasn't any worse than some stuff we saw back in the days of 1st edition, before it was tone down (for better or worse) in the "no mention of demons and the bad guys must always lose" days of 2nd. It's only a big deal now because the publishers are making a big deal of it.

Sure, some of it is over the top, and probably deserves a mature rating. But most of it, I feel, isn't gore for gore's sake--it's hype for hype's sake. If Dragon and Dungeon include a bit more "mature/adult/whatever" material, but don't actually point at it with a big neon sign the way they have been, I doubt anyone will notice.

Well, I think they're just trying to avoid re-creating the Christian Anti-D&D/D&D=Satanism gamers had to deal with not too long ago. But still, pointing it out is a bad idea, it's sort of an invitation for critics.

You are right. Its not something I said. My criticism (not name calling) was specifically addressed at the producers of unoriginal material.
In my opinion, the people who buy it are duped into buying an inferior product. But as Barnum said, "No one ever went broke underestimating the American public."

In contrast, the mudlinger you refer to specifically called conservatives pansies.
