Invoke Studios, a subsidiary of Wizards of the Coast, has announced Dungeons & Dragons: Warlock, a new video game due out for 2027. The game features a new character named Kaati, played by Tricia Helfer, and will be a third-person action-adventure game. Players will use spellcraft to "solve challenges and take down monsters" with players having some freedom in how they solve problems.

"We're not trying to simulate the tabletop RPG experience, so there is no dice-rolling in the game — we're trying to really deliver a video-game experience first," said Dominic Guay, studio lead at Invoke Studios, in an interview with IGN. "If you are not familiar with Dungeons and Dragons, you are not going to feel friction, like in that you're missing details of the world. But if you are a fan of the universe, you are going to be really excited about what we are doing with the lore of the series for Warlock."

Invoke Studios was previously called Tuque Games, and made the much-derided Dark Alliance game in 2021.

Gameplay will be revealed in 2026, with a planned release for 2027.

The people who ruined dragon age are, by and large, still at EA. Dragon age was ruined by production decisions made by studio heads who kept on rebooting the fourth game in the series to chase trends.
Well, it’s more complicated than just “it was EA’s fault.” All of the public information suggest that EA gave BioWare a ton of creative freedom, and most of the studio’s management problems were internal. But, it is very clear that the problems were with management, not with the writers, programmers, and other on-the-ground staff. I’m sure EA are far from blameless in the mishandling of the studio’s talent, but “studio good, publisher bad” is oversimplifying and glosses over the fact that BioWare’s own internal leadership was also terrible, and probably had a much bigger impact on the most criticized aspects of the studio’s games than EA did.

WotC: Hey, we're making a video game. We hope you enjoy it.

Me: Woo, video games!

The rest of the subreddit: This is probably going to be a terrible failure, I hate it already.
I mean, personally I have no opinion on this game yet, other than that I think warlocks have a great built-in hook for solo play and it’s cool that they seem to want to make a video game around that premise. I hope it makes it to release and that it’s fun to play!

I have a lot of very strong opinions about BioWare and their games lmao.
