Dungeons to dungeons

Amanchanamun

First Post
After 4th edition , i decided that i could not go on playing without miniaturues ( token what ever ) and ready made dungeon tiles.

I dont like the original tiles since it effects creativity and cost alot. My plan is simple. Very nice printer with thin cartoons i will make my own dungeons.

I know that some of you has already made it already. Could you please tell us how you make it step by step by attaching all the pictures ,tiles etc. ( From map makers to dungeons. )

So all of our members can use this thread to make their own dungeons , print them and with some glue help and scissors to make own dungeons.

I will also add tomorrow some ideas i have in my hand.

Wow- that's pretty ambitious!

I hand draw all of mine, though more and more I've been thinking about printing giant grids of light grey and just actually drawing things out on them to scale (either in advance or as we go). But building things? I've never had the motivation to go that far!

Then again, I do have a bunch of wall sections that I've used as props many a time. Hmm, I'll have to do it again sometime- some kind of barricade or something, perhaps...

I tried something a bit different; I Googled "Tiles" and found a picture of some square bath tiles or something. Than using my limited skills I copied several of these onto a Word document and moved them around, stretching them to the size I wanted (1X1") and pasting them on top of each other so that the page was filled with tiles.
I printed 4 of these pages, glued two pairs together to form A3 sized pages and put these two pages in A3 nylons in my binder.
Using several whiteboard markers of different colors to draw on my makeshift tiles, I set the environments for dungeons and battle locations and draw the monsters as different color dots or numbers (if I have several of the same kind). My players or I don't use miniatures, so they are using some dice a minis.

well what i have done and its really easy and fast to use and most of all it's a money saver.

(please excuse my english, dont remeber the name of things xD...)

i have bout a big paper page that like 4feet high and 3feet wide and its all full of 1x1 inch or half-inch square (the pages you use in school to exopose a subject in front of the class xD)

and i also bought glue and a tranparent plastic (the big roll of plastic ppl buy to protect books or notebooks...)

and some big carboard pieces...

so now with this you divide the paper sheet in half and paste them on the carboard and then you apply the transparent plastic(its like a big transparent sticker, it already has glue on them)

and there you go... now you u have a big 1x1 inch or (1/2)x( 1/2) inch battle grid that u can draw on it with dry erasor and re-use time nd time again.
i have made 4 of there.

we dont use miniature's, insteat y have printed symbols from the lineage 2 game they have some cool symbols and mos of the symbols really describe the job they represent.

for the paladine we use this symbol
paladin.gif

we use some of these symbols to represent wizard
sorcerer.gif
arcana_lord.jpg
humanwizard.gif

for the ranger we use diferent symbols depending if it sa bow ranger
phantomranger.gif
or a sword ranger
gladiator.gif

for our cleric we use this one
cleric.gif

this one for a warlock
soultaker.jpg

for a fighter-->

warrior.gif

this is the page of the game Lineage II: The Chaotic Throne - Top Fantasy MMORPG by NCsoft
if u want to download the symbols go to THE LIBRARY->RACES, CLASSES, SKILL -> SELECT A RACE -> CLASSE TRANFER.

i use a dry erasor to note effects and draw places like houses and castle or road's an a dry erasor board so my player can have a full descrption of the place with a visual aid and if y prepare an encounter i simply draw the same map on my big battle grid.

on the dry erraser board i put an top the symbols i printed the big ones on the board discrbe inititive in order left to righ, and i use the same symbol only smaller ones on the battle grid.

so thats the things i use on my d&d games.

nice idea

Nice idea. Lets combine it with mine's.

1.Supply a thin cartoon a big one but can be foldable.

2.Print out colourfull already have grids on , and even objects walls etc printed on.

3.Glue them on cartoon.

Hi! I found out very early on that trying to visualize combat in D&D without some manner of grid and markers was next to impossible without going on for 10 minutes about the exact layout of the room. Thus, quite soon after 3.5 came out I purchased a big mat from Chessex (Chessex.com). You can use wet-erase markers with it so you can draw your dungeon out and erase it when you're done. It's done wonders for my games... For one of my birthdays, my friends got me a really huge one that we were able to conduct large scale D&D battles on.

Using grids

Using grids like chessex makes me worry for one thing. When you finish your game , you are also finished with the grid as well.

You can not stock your encounters. You have to draw again if you need to play again. Otherwise it is a nice colution.
