DVD remote problems

Last night I was starting to watch Sin City on DVD. But I could not click on some options in the menu. Some of the buttons would not work on the remote. I tried changing baterries but the same thing would happen. Is it toast?

Spendy, but I think it's worth every penny. EVERY remote should essentially work like this and I can't for the life of me figure out why manufacturers don't actually standardize their remote codes to conform to a "universal" standard so we consumers don't have to fork over this kind of money to control our entertainment systems.

I think my DVD player is starting to die. My TV remote can be set up to be a unerversal remote. I set it up to work with the DVD player and iits doing the same thing the other remote was. So I think its something to do with the DVD player.

Could be that the infrared sensor on the player is going out. Probably not worth fixing, either.
