Dwarves don't go prone easy? Even if unconscious?

Sleepwalking dwarves would be an interesting mental image, though.

I know a guy who tells the story of how he got knocked unconcious by a falling brick, while standing on a 2 inch I beam. His unconcious body actually managed to stay up long enough for him to wake up (approx. 20 seconds)

On a balance standpoint, I don't think dwarves need any more bonuses. second wind on a minor, good skill bonuses, con bonus, no movement penalty on heavy armor, they're walking tanks already without being able to be standing unconcious.

There's a difference between being asleep and unconscious. And there's definitely a difference between being dead and those as well. Sleep actually requires your muscles to be relaxed. Let me rephrase that. Part of the signs of sleep is relaxed muscles. So, I guess technically if your still standing, then your not really asleep. Just did a quick bit of research and apparently, cows don't sleep standing up. Horses can and do however, because their legs can lock in place. Well, anyway, I don't suppose it matters.

Hmmm... I just pictured a bunch of drunken halflings that go "dwarf tipping" in the middle of the night.

Cow tipping goodness:

And if you actually read those links you've got way too much time on your hands, like me.

You remained standing? Every time that happened to me or someone else I knew they always either fell over or nodded and then woke up. Marine training here. I mean, were you really asleep, as in you didn't wake back up right away and you just stood there sleeping? I don't think that's biologically possible for a person.

I've done the ranger head-nod quite a bit, but the time I refer to was actual sleep and I remained standing. I don't think I was out for too long, though I couldn't tell you how long it actually was. One of the RIs poked me to wake me up. I'm sure I would have fallen on my face given enough time.
