I am looking to implement an arcane version of Divine Channeling which I think is described in Unearthed Arcana.... or not.
Divine Channeling as I remember it: The player may expend a turning attempt to emoted divine energy to affect something - such as requiring a certain DC of Turning check to open a divinely sealed door.
I am looking for an arcane version of this, possibly as a replacement for the familiar or as an add on to the existing class, or a new way to use existing skills and class abilities. What I immediately thought of goes something like this:
Dweomer Channeling will be a spell craft check modified by a sacrificed spell slot simple but makes it harder for an arcane user than a divine user by virtue of expending a spell. I also thought about giving Arcane Casters (mage, sorcerers) the ability to turn outsiders or Abberations instead of a familiar and work from that.
What do you think? Is there a better way to do it? I am looking to potentilly implement this with the potential Sundered Skies campaign
