Dweomerkeeper (CD WE)

Sorcerer and Mantle of Spells.

What happens if a Sorcerer puts a spell into her Mantle of Spells and later drops (swaps out) that spell against another?

I think that mantle of spells isn't a item itself
If this mantle of spells is a item, enjoy it, the sorcerer gives anyone the spontaneous casting ability into the spells chosen
Another question
can you change the mantle spells or are ever the first choice?

Nah, of course it is not an item. ;)

But maybe the ability to spontaneously cast those spells does not require the actual knowledge later. A wizard surely doesn't need to have the spell prepared either.

Maybe it's enough to know the spell at the time you put it into the mantle (metaphorically speaking).

You cannot change the spells later, I'm quite sure about that.

Either that, or we end up with another class thats exponentially better for a WIZ than a SOR.

The power curve is pretty close to the same with the mantle counting as a bonus spell known for the SOR. Spontaneous Spell vs. Know Spell.
Actually, that still gives the WIZ a definite advantage. He doesnt have to wait to exchange the spell and doesnt have to use a swap spell to begin with.

MUAHAHAHAHA! No Large sized creature will escape my dweormerkeeper now! I shall hit him with my no SR dimensional lock and then use my greater quicken rod to quicken a forcecage around him!

Or better yet! I'll be a cleric 5 of (mystra) and take the feat from Player's Guide to Faerun that allows me to make a caster level check to cast spells in an antimagic field. I'll then run around with a permanent antimagic field around myself to slay all the mages!

To add to that i'll be an aasimar and take Celestial Bloodline and Outsider Wings feats from Savage species to I have a flying cleric of doom!

OOoooooooo

Ah, ok. Got that from the table. My bad. :)

Cannot count how many times I did the same mistake :(

About the PrCl, you may know why it was not published in the Complete Divine... I think it should not have full spellcasting progression to be balanced with other PrCls, since the requirements are very easy to meet - the domain requirement is the only thing that would make the PrCl unpopular in a campaign world, but from the player's perspective it's as easy as taking a single level of Cleric.

Do you know if the feat Signature Spell will has been reprinted in Player's Guide to Faerun? It used to give spontaneous casting of a single spell IIRC, but with a steep price.

Yes, I think it's still there.

BTW, I consider Web Enhancement to be equally official as the printed books.

Not the other stuff on the webpage (like Mind's Eye and so on), tho.

IMHO, the dweomerkeeper is balanced fine with a full spellcasting progression IF you just take out Supernatural Spell. Clerics going into the class lose out on a level of spellcasting progression PLUS hit points, BAB, and Fort saves; arcane spellcasters lose out on a level of spellcasting progression but recoup on fancy class abilities and hit points(!). Mantle is nice, and very flashy, but not overwhelming.

Supernatural Spell definitely is a problem. The rest of the abilities are not bad, but not great either. I like the concept, but I would have to restrict Supernatural spell in some manner. I am thinking that Supernatural Spell might be allowable if xp were still considered a cost not a componet. Defensive casting is pretty much the rule after 10th. The ignore SR does still bother me thou.

I like the idea of allowing the mantle to be bonus spells known for a Sorcerer. The class is an interesting idea, but poorly excuted. :\
