E-Tools for Win98

OK, I realize this isn't tech support for fluid, but I can't get anywhere on those idiot message boards of theirs. Takes me a full minute just to get to a page, and I can't find the info I need. And the boards are down half the time.

Basically, I have an old Win98 machine. When I launch etools, I get an error that reads "A required .DLL file ODBC32.DLL, was not found." I'm not a normal Windows user. Anyone run across this?

Thanks.

Do you have access 97 on your pc? If so you need to update the driver from MS so that etools will work. I don't know the url, but I am sure someone arround here will be able to help you with that, I do know that the information is on the fluids boards though... Maybe they will get them running soon:rolleyes:

I don't even have Word on the system.

I installed a service pack and got past that error. Of course, now I'm getting an entirely new error:

Connect failed: Failed to connect to datasource: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

Maybe I'll figure it out, but I just don't get Windows. Stupid OS. I'm going to play on my Mac now. If someone knows what that error means, though, I'd love to try this software.

Thanks.

Check Fluid's How to section, your exact error message is a subject heading. There are some links there. In a nutshell you have to update your odbc components.

There is something called MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components). This is very likely to be what your win9x box is missing. Check microsoft.com for the latest MDAC!

Good Luck!:D

I think I'm doomed to failure here. I did what everyone suggested, and still no luck. Same error. Couldn't connect to the datasource. But thanks for all the help. Much appreciated.

I had the exact same problem on my old win 98 system. I had Microsoft office 97 running and E-Tools would not work. I upgraded to office 2000 then everything worked. Although I am still haveing a problem with no stat blocks or print previews showing up, and I am using internet explorer 5.5.
