E1: Tomb of Chaos [Judge: Patlin] [Concluded]

The enlarged half-orc staggers up only to see that the fight has ended. He "hrmph"s and then sits down for somebody to point him towards more fights since that has seemed to work so far.

[sblock=Spellcraft DC 20]King Toth cast teleport[/sblock]

No signs of the demon can be had as Gorefoot swings his sword through the space previously occupied over and over. Percy approaches the dias but holds off as Nars offers to check it out. Checking the dias, Nars determines that there is quite a complex trap associated with what appears to be a small panel around the back.

OOC: Percy spellcraft: 7+9=16 fail.

There aren't any more obvious doors, are there? If there's a body to search, Percy will do that. Otherwise, she'll wait nervously for Nars.

"Hmm, this is an, er, doozy," Nars says while examining the trap. "You, er, might want to, ah, stand back." Nars face, already pale from the earlier encounter, turns whiter still. After a moment, he begins to work on disabling the trap (+12).

OOC: Take 20 if possible.

Percy investigates the body of Syl'r, the grimlock cleric of King Toth. Syl'r had a few things of note on his person, including a very nice looking battle axe, a key in the shape of a black jackal head and a bronze ring.

Nars is able to disarm the final trap with relative ease. The small panel gives a whoosh as it slides down into the base of the altar. Inside the small alcove there are a number of items including a darkwood rod engraved with inlaid gold sigils and topped with a gold cap, a small wooden box with no apparent means of opening it, and a black half-mask similar to the one that King Toth was wearing (though his was white).

"Cool!" says Percy. "nice job with that trap, Nars." Percy ruffles his hair affectionatetly, "As usual. What do make of that little box?"

Percy will then cast detect magic, suspecting they've made quite a haul.

OOC: Spells remaining: 4/0/2. Last magic missile never having been cast.

Ishmael is disappointed at the monster's lack of a corpse but is relieved that they all survived the encounter. He picks up after himself and asks after each wounded party member.

OOG: CLW charges anyone?

Nars turns red as a beat at Percy's attention, but afterward walks a little straighter, not quite as weighed down by the earlier encounters.

Nars takes his time looking over the box more carefully. He also compares it to the key found on Syl'r to see if the two seem connected.

OOC: Nars used up 3 charges above.

From the grimlock cleric, the key radiates magic. From the stash, the rod, the mask, and something inside the box radiates magic. The box does not have any obvious way to open it however. There are no locks, key holes, latches, or even hinges apparent. It looks to be a smooth square.
