E1: Tomb of Chaos [Judge: Patlin] [Concluded]

Nars blinks and a small shudder runs through his shoulders as he feels the compulsion try to take over. He pauses to examine the trap at his feet, feeling a bit foolish for falling into it, to make sure that it will not reset itself. He mutters, "You could, ah, have, er, warned me about the, ah, trap."

Percy decides to walk right in after Nars. Flashing a white smile she says " Hello Lorien. Call me Percy. Pretty clever there getting past those wights. There are lots of dangerous things in these tombs. We're gathering some historical stuff for a party of interest. What brings you here? Do you know much of this place?"

"Oh sorry about that, I'd forgotten about it as it had no effect on me." replies the Librarian to Nars.

As Percy walks in just inside the door she feels a strange sensation in her head. Its as if someone is trying to influence her decisions magically, to encourage her to revere Toth Nekamek of all people. Looking down she sees faint traces of a magical trap on the stones beneath her feet. She manages to throw off the compulsion though.

"Right, you might all want to watch out for that first step. Its a little charm effect that was here before I came, sorry Percy. There are indeed many fascinating things in dungeons. Personally I long for the knowledge contained down here, lost for centuries. This library is fascinating. Take that book over there." Lorien says indicating an open book with a gold cover. "That was apparently their Book of the Dead. It chronicles the lives of their kings and rulers throughout the ages. Simply fascinating."

Novrne looks a little shocked back in the other room. "The Book of the Dead?!" he whispers beneath his breath.

Percy raises her hand to the group. "OK. No one enter here. There's a charm spell of some sort in the doorway." She turns back to Lorien. "This is a dangerous place isn't it. We've met all sorts of nasty things here." Percy shivers for emphasis. "These books are worth studying, but should probably be brought to a saver place don't you think? Have you been to the Sage guild in Orussus? Do you have a horse or wagon or anything to help us move things?"

Nars gives Lorien a level look while slightly raising his sword. "I'm, er, gonna take care of this her, ah, trap. If you, ah, try to her her (indicating Percy), well, just, ah, don't." With that, Nars sets down his weapons, pulls out his tools, and begins to work on the trap (Disable Device +11).

OOC: Not sure if this should be a secret roll. If so, disregard this one: disable trap (1d20+11=19) Well, that's not to great, but Nars just can't resist a trap to disarm. :)

Nars is unable to disarm the trap yet. Being a magical trap he figures it'll take some more time to get rid of it.

Lorien continues conversing with Percy, making no threatening moves. "Alas I find myself a bit unprepared. I have to admit that when I found out about this place, I didn't really expect to find anything down here. Those gnolls sure were a surprise. Was that you making all that noise last night? Gave me an aweful fright, all that wind and then the barking of the gnolls. I woke up twice in the middle of the night."

"In any case, Orussus, no never been there. Heard plenty of good things about it, just never made it that far west. Many of these books will need extreme care to transport as a lot of them will fall apart at the slightest touch. This one though, this one is not going to fall apart any time soon." he finishes indicating the golden book again.

Ishmael stands attentively, listening in but providing nothing to the conversation... except a reminder to the "librarian" that Percy is not unguarded.

Percy takes a deep breath and pauses, watching Nars work as an excuse. She doesn't trust Lorien, & has no intention of looking at the book he's so interested in.

"I believe we have killed all the gnolls in this complex. And we were caught in a bit of a breeze earlier. We are planning to leave for the Orussus Sage guild soon, taking some of the artifacts we have found so that they may be studied and properly catalogues. Perhaps you would accompany us."

"Ah good, those gnolls are brutish creatures. So destructive in their looting. Most of these books are too fragile to move without proper care. I think I'd rather stay here. I've enough rations to survive on my own for a week or more." replies the Librarian.

"I see." Percy turns to Nars. "Do you think we can exit here and have a private discussion? What if we jump over these runes?"

Percy would like to get the group together to discuss their next move. Percy would like to take the items they have so far accumulated back to Orussus and return with a wagon. Some of the group should probably stay here to guard what remains. Percy is not particular which group she would be in, if indeed, they split up. There doesn't seem to be a way to get all their treasure back in one trip.

What time of day is it now?
