E1: Tomb of Chaos [Judge: Patlin] [Concluded]

"Er, ah, ready?" When each of the others nods his head, Nars begins placing the rods in their place. As soon as the last one is in, he immediately draws Felhunter and his sickle, expecting the door to open on its own.

OOC: Thanks, Erekose. I ran out of time last night & didn't get to research that post completely.

IC: Percy stands back, loaded crossbow in one hand, torch in the other.

Nars slides the first rod, the red hippo, into place in the hands of the hippo statue. It slides easily into the slot and clicks when the base of the figurine reaches the top of the statue's hands. Nars pauses for a second, nothing bad happens so he keeps going with the blue scarab, the white ibis, the green crocodile, the yellow cat, the purple ram, and finally the orange asp. There are a couple of hushed seconds after the last one is put into place where everyone stands with their breath held then a loud rush of air escapes from the doors as the massive stone swings open.

Before you is a long chamber with a floor of polished red granite tiles. Soaring sandstone columns with gold inlays line the walls; the gold ornamentation glows from the fires burning in low iron braziers that are set about the room. The columns reach into the fathomless darkness high above, beyond the light cast by the braziers. Fading murals cover the walls, depicting the life of a king, from birth to his last funeral rites and final entombment. At the far end of the room is an immense stone dias carved from a single block of red granite. On top of the dias is an open stone sarcophagus, which is flanked by statues of a massive serpent and a large crocodile.

A dark robed individual stands on the dias in front of the sarcophagus. The cowl is pulled up to conceal the figure's features. You can just barely discern a broad smile forming in the shadows of the cowl. "Now that you have proven your worth by defeating the challenges that our Great Lord Toth set for you, I invite you to become the first in the upper world to recognize His Godhood and pledge yourselves to the Ancient Glory which He shall restore to this benighted Age - and I can assure you, getting in on the ground floor like this... well, the rewards will be simply staggering! Imagine each one of you a hierophant of our Lord, under me as patriarch of course."

IC: "Oh. Hi." Percy is stunned to find what appears to be a living person behind the door. Perhaps after Novrne and the librarian, she shouldn't be.

"We do know about Great Lord Toth, at this point. We thought this was a tomb. What brings you here?"

Percy is suspicious that there's another door, though the whoosh of air would indicate no door had been opened in ages. Percy glances at the floor at her feet. Once before, she walked into a trap which tried to convert her to the great Lord Toth.

"I am Syl'r, patriarch of Lord Toth. I am here to recruit followers. Come bow before His alter." replies the figure atop the alter. Percy doesn't spot anything in particular on the floor.

Percy looks about the room. There is no obvious treasure. Percy steps into the room, and motions for the others to enter and fan out.

"How long have you been here. Like, shouldn't you be long dead by now? I'm not quite ready to bow at the alter yet."

If the party can enter safely, Percy will take a pause and cast mage armor on herself.

As Nars passes through the door, he whispers to Percy, "Don't, er, trust him. I think he, ah, just made up, er, his story." Nars keeps his weapons drawn and only enters the room enough to let the others through.
