E1: Tomb of Chaos [Judge: Patlin] [Concluded]

The others start filing into the room and as Percy starts casting the priest at the altar says, "You don't think I'm that dumb do you?" and puts his hand into his pocket. What he pulls out you don't know because he is blanketed in darkness as is the area surrounding the altar (or at least its blanketed in 'shadowy illumination' bloody 3.5...).

[Round 1]
Init:
Nezrak
Syl'r
Ishmael
Nars
Percy
Gorefoot
Rodimus

[sblock=ooc]Percy has managed to cast mage armor and everyone has made it into the room as the darkness fell. We'll jump straight to round one as all parties figured it'd break out into combat sooner or later.[/sblock]

OOC: With his darkvision, the shadow of Syl'r would not have obscured his vision prior to the casting of the darkness spell. Could Nars discern anything more about his features, like if he was skeletal?

Advancing forward slowly, Gorefoot looks for Percy or the robed figure. He advances towards where he last saw the robed figure if he can't locate Percy.

OOC: I'm going to be gone all week next week, so Manzanita or Erekose13 can feel free to NPC Gorefoot. I'll still be hanging around here until about 5 PM today, but after that I won't see you folks until the 6th of November.

[sblock=Darkvision prior to darkness]You see a rough gray skin covering the cloaked figure's face. His eyes are either closed or non-existant[/sblock]

(ooc: as before with the stupid darkness thing, torches that were already going (and I'm assuming they were) are still up and running. Only light spells are countered/dispelled by the darkness spell. So yes you can see him, he just has 'shadowy illumination' which results in concealment. = 20% miss chance)

[Round 1]

Nezrak (NPCd) spots the deception handily and launches a scorching ray with almost inhuman (inelven?) reflexes. The ray strikes Syl'r squarely in the chest burning a hole through his robes.

Syl'r curses Nezrak's flaming attack and responds by casting a spell of his own. Within the blink of an eye he disappears seemingly swallowed by the shadow. The shadow itself seems to surge forward. In the same moment a creature leaps from a swirling vortex of shadow beside Rodimus. Reeking of decay, this gaunt humanoid is covered in black, leathery skin. Behind its pointed ears, a large curved horn rises out of the back of its skull. A mouth of jagged teeth takes up half of the foul creature's head. Atop its gapping maw, the creature wears a white half mask with an embossed hieroglyph that some recognize as King Toth Nekamek's personal symbol seen many places around the dungeon. The creature slashes Rodimus wickedly under his throat.

~Action Paused~
Ishmael
Nars
Percy
Gorefoot
Rodimus

[sblock=ooc]Sorry no map update. King Toth is diagonally in front of Rodimus towards the wall. The blackness now encompasses the area in between the altar and party, engulfing the middle front two (but not Rodimus). Xael let me know if you want to change Nezrak's action, though I'd imagine that you would like to leave it.

Damage Recap:
Rodimus 21/42
Syl'r 21/37
[/sblock]

Nars strikes with both his weapons, hoping guiltily that the others look more threatening. He first tries to pull his opponent to the ground with his sickle and then stabs with Felhunter.

OOC: Drop sickle if trip failes. Probably missed his touch AC.
touch attack, trip check, resist counter trip (1d20+5=9, 1d20+2=13, 1d20+7=23)
Felhunter (1d20+6=26, 1d6+3=4)
Critical threat if elgible! I'll roll again anyway.
I added an extra plus one to both attacks that shouldn't be there. Probably doesn't matter though.
critical confirm (1d20+5=25, 1d6+3=6)
Of course I would waste a double 20 on a likely undead.

Ishmael sees the darkness descend wants none of it. He loosens his shield, utters the spell of True Striking and takes a step toward the deathless creature.
