E1: Tomb of Chaos [Judge: Patlin] [Concluded]

Leaning out over the pit, Nars peers around the corner with his darkvision. What he sees is not quite what he suspected. Back near another pile of rubble a dire badger springs into action, running in Nars' direction. It will need to navigate the pit trap, but it is coming for you.

Nars nearly loses hold of the rod as he sees the badger running toward him. He struggles back to solid ground (with his companions) and barks out, "Big, er, furry...thing," and begins to claw Felhunter out of his scabbard. He hopes he can hold his ground against the thing and force it to fall into the pit when it comes around the corner.

"Eeeks!" squeels Percy. She levels her loaded crossbow at the space just beside the corner and takes a couple steps back. She holds her torch high with her other hand.

Rodimus smacks his fists together, happy to let out the frustration that had built since he lost so easily to the infernal creature.
"Move, dwarf," the monk grunts, motioning for Nars to let him step to the front.

Gorefoot draws his blade and, if there is room, will step up beside Rodimus. If there isn't room, Gorefoot will step back and cover Percy.

[Round 1]
Ishmael stands back waiting for something to show itself.

Rodimus moves up to take Nar's place.

Nezrak remains around the corner and cannot even see Nars and Rodimus at the front of the line.

The badger comes flying around the corner. It is just able keep it's footing as it barrels into Rodimus. The half-orc stands his ground, however, resisting the rush of the fur ball. Without a place to stand the badger falls to the bottom of the pit.

~Action Paused~
Nars stands safely out of the way.

[sblock=ooc]I have no idea how that encounter is supposed to work mechanically. So I gave the badger a balance check to move around the corner over the pit. It succeeded. Then Rodimus was in the way so it needed to make a bull rush attempt to find space in front of the pit. I pressumed that Rodimus would resist the attempt rather than step out of the way. Which he did. Thus the badger found itself falling to the ground 10 below. Now it can try to climb...

May not be completely consistant with the rules, but hey I'm just trying to keep up the flow.

Note that the corridor is tight, only 5ft wide. So only one person will be able to face the badger at a time.[/sblock]

"Good job, Rodimus!" shouts Percy from behind Gorefoot (& Nars?). "Keep it down there! Rodimus - go to the other side of the pit so more than one of us can fight it!"

OOC: I guess Percy's rod is still immobilized in the air above the pit near the corner. Not sure what effect that would have on the combat.

Nars draws his masterwork dagger in his left hand while keeping Felhunter in his right. He let's Gorefoot passed him as well.

OOC: Sounds like a fine way to run the encounter to me.

[Round 1 Cont]

Nars moves back further to let Gorefoot in front.

Gorefoot pauses to let Rodimus move around the pit.

Percy, standing right back at the corner of the hallway, in front of Nezrak and Ishmael waits while offering suggestions.

[Round 2]

Ishmael continues to wait, not even able to see the trouble ahead.

Rodimus uses Percy's rod to quickly hop over to the North side of the pit, allowing Gorefoot to stand at the edge so that they can both keep the badger in the pit.

Nezrak stands with Ishmael.

The badger claws its way up, hunger in its eyes. Gorefoot and Rodimus are both able to hit the creature with ease. It just growls and bats at Gorefoot with it's right claw while the other hangs on to the lip of the pit.

Nars is unable to reach the creature now that Gorefoot is in front.

Gorefoot slams his greatsword into the creature with all his might.

[sblock=ooc]Percy can just see the creature if she wants to magic missile it. I've got Gorefoot using full -5 power attack cause the critter has like an 8 AC while climbing.
Rodimus 26/42 remaining
Nars 21/24 remaining
