E2: The Secret of Gemhold [Patlin Judging]

Rodimus comes to the conclusion that the flittering annoyances aren't so bad after all, as they are telling them to go kill more.

By morning the rain has stopped though the clouds are still obscuring the sky. The Petals all wake to wave good bye as the Thorns lead the party into the woods. Gorefoot can tell that they are being led west away from the direction the Thorns had said the nomads were hunting. After about 2 hours of walking the Thorns indicate for everyone to be quiet. They move forward with amazing stealth to indicate a dark cave beneath a solitary bent old tree on a little hillock.

ooc: might not be on much over the long weekend. Happy holidays all.

"I feel kind of bad killing the poor thing. She probably has little kids, and we already killed her mate. I wonder if we could just scare it off." Percy looks sad.

"Oh well. Probably won't work. And we do need the fey's help with Gemhold. I don't suppose its smart enough to set any traps. We can probably just head on in. Rodimus, would you like me to give you some magic armor so you can take the lead? And I can cast a light spell on my longspear and come in behind you and Gorefoot. Nars can be at my side, and Nezrak and Ridik can bring in the rear. What do you think?"

Rodimus nods to Percy's suggestion. This way he'll have the first chance to lay hands to the creature.

OoC: A mage armor would bring Rodimus's AC to 20 (the armor bonus overlaps with the +1 from the bracers).

"That's sound fair with me." Just before entering, Ridik will cast Bull'S Strength on Gorefoot.

Nars draws Felhunter and readies his shield. He moves quietly next to Percy, ready to protect her from harm.

OOC: If the Thorns are departing, Nars waits for them to leave before drawing Felhunter. If they are staying, he draws Felhunter anyway and lets the Thorns think what they will.

The Thorns do hang around outside and are not alarmed to see Felhunter or at least they don't show any signs of alarm.

Heading into the dark cave the sunlight provides some light at least to the entry way. The cave turns to the right just a little ways in and closes to about 5 ft wide as it winds around a bend. Percy's magenta flame provides enough light for everyone following Rodimus and Gorefoot in.

ooc: what is the party's order when forced into narrower?

Percy motions Rodimus to take the lead. With his mage armor and darkvision, he seems well-positioned to take the lead. Percy isn't worried about traps in this complex, but if anyone else is, perhaps Nars should take the lead.

The rest should give the leader some room if he wants, then come Gorefoot, followed by Percy with her lighted longspear, then Nars, Ridik, then Nezrak.
