E2: The Secret of Gemhold [Patlin Judging]

[Round 1]

With supernatural speed Percy manages to get off another set of magic missiles that fell the goblin scout. It falls at the base of the tree, its warning shout stiffled before it can let it out.

Percy will move up to search the goblin & confer with nars one last time before nightfall. She'll try to coerse someone else in the party to drag off the goblin carcus and dispose of it.

Nars tells Percy about the greater goblin and the rest of what he'd seen, sparing her the part about the greater goblin eating the other goblin. "It, er, looks like they are, ah, manning the walls, er, for battle."

Percy looks sad. "We have given ourselves away, perhaps. Come back with us then, Nars. I don't want you falling asleep in that tree. We will need your help tomorrow if it comes to battle."

Percy wants to take Nars back to the stone for the night. Presumably, the dead goblin had nothing of value.

Indeed the dead goblin has nothing of value. Percy and Nars finish moving the body then head back to join the others. They arrive about 20 minutes after the warriors arrived. Very little has been said beyond minor pleasantries between Cenerieth and Gorefoot. Percy is then present to continue conversations.

"Hi Cenerieth." says Percy cheerily. "I'm glad you could make it. How are you all feeling?"

Pleasentries aside, Percy continues. "We have scouted out the place some. Nars here climbed a tree and could see inside the compound. There's lots of goblins, some of whom are quite tough, we've found. There are also three giants, and some spooky goblin leader. They also have these little doggy-things. I fear these can detect invisible people, and people in disguise. This makes our attack much more difficult."

"The bad news is I think we got them suspicious. We've killed some of the goblins. About 8. And the head-goblin had the guards go on extra alert. For now, we should rest. We can chat a bit on what strategy to use when we do attack."

"Cenerieth, do you or your men have any good attacking skills? Nars here can climb. I can turn people invisible or disguise them like a goblin or hobgoblin. It would be nice to get the gate open before we attack. Maybe if we dressed someone up with goblin armor and clothes, and disguise them with my ribbon, they might look and smell good enough to get in past the doggies. Then they could open the gate and the rest of us could charge in."

EDIT: OOC: Map in post 454. A turret and portion of wall have collapsed, and could be used to gain entry as well. Do we have any idea if we could get up on the cliff above the keep? Would it help us if we could? Do we still have the two thorns? Are they ready to fight with us as well?

"Sorry to asks, but why bother to make someone appear like a goblin when you have a goblin within your firends. I know, I'm not a green goblin but a mountian goblin, but with all what you suggest, I can easily looks like a goblin and smell like one. Also, Russna will help me and I can talk with them easily too." tells Ridik.

Gorefoot watches the conversation with intensity. "What about the giants? They're going to be tough." he says, "We can probably get the gate open, but after that, they'll notice us. Would it be better if we attacked during the day or the night?"

"Personnaly, I don't know" replies Ridik to Gorefoot. "I've never been a strategist. I've been raised in a monastery, not an academy of war."

"Well met Persephony. We are hunters, we stalk quitely and stealthily through the forest, attacking from many angles at once. We are also capable archers and can provide support at range or on the charge. I think that whom ever you send in ahead to open the gate would be at great risk. I'm afraid that I cannot ask any of my hunters to accept that task. A battle during the day is advisable, especially against these goblins, though for giants it might be to their advantage during the day. Have you had word yet from the Queen?" replies Cenerieth. His hunters move silently through the forest until they are standing in a rough circle around the group and Cenerieth. Lor is also there amongst the warriors.

Before Percy can answer, a female shape forms from the tree next to Percy. The woody female form steps out of the tree and bows her head slightly before speaking in with the voice of a light breeze, "We have come. The Queen approves of your quest and has sent us as allies." When she finishes the two thorns appear with a few more of their kind from behind the northern line of Cenerieth's hunters. A group of petals float around your friend the Thorn (who is still unnamed). You watch as two trees appear to uproot themselves and... walk... behind the thorns, a pixie alighting the branches of one.

ooC: yes you could get above the keep but it would require climbing (steep cliff w/ lots of handholds) out in the open. Its up to you if it would help. The thorns were not there, but now they are and they brought friends. From what you can see there is 1 petal, 1 pixie, 1 dryad, 2 treants, and 5 thorns.
