Easy question, Coup de Grace & PA ??

Y'all seem remarkably impervious to the voice of reason. ;)
I have a +9 versus Reason. :p

If you are a Hamburger why haven't I eaten you yet?

Now disagree if you like, argue, use it different, whatever, but please not the lame "my rightness is so obvious why are you even having the conversation" bit...

Am I allowed to use "my logic is flawless, so why are you even having this conversation"?

revisionism supported by quote cutting is quite possibly the least endearing form of trolling.
How nice, I am glad that since you could not support your assertions using the rules you chose instead to insult me and my positions. Any time you would like to put forth an argument based on your own assumptions rather than the rules as written or other supporting rule sources I will gladly post why I believe that you are wrong and the rules which I believe support my position which you can of course ignore if you choose.

Also I do not believe that I have changed my position (i.e. I am not engaging in revisionism). And I am not attempting to Troll. Just because some one does not agree with you does not mean that they are "trolling", "talking in circles", "silly", "lame", on a "sureal little tangent", or any other derogatory appellation you might choose to use to denigrate them and dismiss their opinions.

Of course, when ruling this, one has to be wary of the effects this has on the "Damage Your Opponent" grapple tactic.

It's an opposed grapple check, not an attack roll...but it does do melee damage...can my Druid take no penalty to get a +15 to all damage dealt?

I apply attack roll modifiers to opposed grapple checks anyway - Bless bonus, Bardic Music bonus, Prone penalty, etc.

Definition of attack bonus:
Your attack bonus with a melee weapon is:
Base attack bonus + Strength modifier + size modifier

Definition of grapple check:
A grapple check is like a melee attack roll. Your attack bonus on a grapple check is:
Base attack bonus + Strength modifier + special size modifier

So apart from the distinction between size modifier and special size modifier (since bigger = worse for melee attacks and bigger = better for grappling), they're defined identically. Something that provides a modifier to attack rolls, by my reading, should affect grapple checks similarly.

So much for a "easy question" ;)

This all hurts my head too much, our group allow it. I don;t see it as abuse, but then again we havn't got very high so there is no real opportunity for abuse.

Couldn't you just exclude any extra damage gained from power attack from the CdG multiplication. That would make it cool but not too powerfull.

Here's how I reconciled the issue in my campaign:

1. Power Attack grants you a bonus (+damage) for in exchange for a commensurate risk (+miss chance).

2. CdG is an automatic hit.

3. If you were to use Power Attack in a CdG, you'd essentially be gaining the feat's benefit (+damage) without incurring any risk (+miss chance).

4. That's cheesy, so you can't do it.

5. Unless you give me a dollar.

Y'all run your game, I'll run mine. ;)
