Eberron: airship skiffs

Hello all

The Eberron adventure Voyage of the Golden Dragon features, in two places, a skiff from the airship, a lfeboat if you will. Does anyone out there know how they actually work (bound elementals, a la airships, or something else)?

Thanks all

If I remember correctly, although they're not to detail in anything (you see them in one of the previous Eberron adventures, too - Whisper of the Vampire's Blade, I think), they're just magic items, no bound elementals or anything and are only 'powered' for short drops/trips.

But, its been awhile since I read the adventures, athough I'm skimming them again, because its my turn to run the weekly game, which means a return to Eberron. :D

Sharn doesn't have skiffs, exactly.

"Skycoaches" are mentioned in SCoT, but not what powers them. Sharn is in a Manifest Zone of the Plane of Air, so it's easier to fly, levitate, hover, etc., there.

I had assumed that the 'coaches were either powered by their drivers, minor magic items, and/or built of Soarwood.

Yeah, I could just do the same thing, but y'know, I figure maybe someone's been a bit more rigorous with this stuff.

The way we figured it out was to have our characters jump onto one as we were fleeing the bad guys. Then the DM had to figure out how they work PDQ. :p

Fair enough. I also had one in my game earlier in the module in Sharn, but that was "as fast as the druid's eagle flies". Maybe I'll just stick with that.

Was it elemental-powered?

This is what they look like in my Ebberon Campaign:

I'm working on an airship here:
