It's about re reading a certain 19th century vibe, ti a large extent.
I thought it was supposed to be more of a post-WWI, 1930s style vibe to accommodate pulp and noir style adventures?

On the other hand, the train being watchable sets up pulp scenarios like a raptor Halfling raid.Yeah, but you feel really dumb when a coup of halflings overtake you on their raptors.
The war setting has a bit of a pist-WWI interwar vibe, but the war itself was not exactly WWI, it lasted over a hundred years, more like the Thirty Years War on steroids. And the genre of fiction being emulated is like 1870s-1920s. Westerns lr King Solomons Mine stuff.I thought it was supposed to be more of a post-WWI, 1930s style vibe to accommodate pulp and noir style adventures?

You don’t need to be so slow for that. Raiding a train on horses is a Western trope. Over a short distance a horse can do up to 40 mph, which is about the top speed of an Old West train. On the other hand, the train being watchable sets up pulp scenarios like a raptor Halfling raid.
Jumping off something going 10 MPH is not terribly smart.Yeah, i'm just saying - if you watch any adventure movies set around that time, the speed is part of the sense of action. I'd want to try to give players the idea that a fight on top of a moving train or jumping onto a moving train is a thrilling thing.
I was just surprised is all.
Yeah, from a quick search 30 MPH for the lightning rail is the usual quoted speed , apparently, not 10.You don’t need to be so slow for that. Raiding a train on horses is a Western trope. Over a short distance a horse can do up to 40 mph, which is about the top speed of an Old West train.
Thing is, slow moving trains are very vulnerable, especially over wide open spaces.
That's basically like falling off a bicycle.Jumping off something going 10 MPH is not tweeibly smart
I did once jump of a moving train at about that speed, when I nearly missed my stop. When I was young and foolish of course. I wouldn’t do it now.Jumping off something going 10 MPH is not tweeibly smart
Somewhat academic, since 30 MPH is the actual speed in the game. That's basically like falling off a bicycle.
