[Eberron] new shifter traits

Having a character recently die in our eberron campaign I've got a fancy for playing a shifter, but with a bird theme rather than a mammal one. As such I've created a few new shifter traits for bird-type shifters and thought I'd post them to see what people thought...

Hawkeye (+2 Con) Whilst shifting the charater's vision improves, giving them a +2 bonus on spot and search checks.

Swift-talon (+2 Dex) As razorclaw, but a different ability score increase.

Strongfeather (+2 Str) arms grow flight feathers, giving +2 bonus to Jumpand slow fall 10 ft.

Razorbeak (+2 Con) as longtooth, but different ability scores.

I guess I really need a couple more, one Str related one and one Dex related one to have the full set. I only want Hawkeye and Swift-talon for my character, but I feel like I should create the entire system.

Feats: These also give rise to some ideas for new shifter feats:

Hawkeye Elite: gains the scan ability from D20 Modern (infiltrator class)

Strongfeather Elite: some kind of glide ability? or perhaps just doubling up the existing bonuses, wha do people think? Full flight would surely be too powerful.

Swfit-talon and Razorbeak I figure qualify for the existing shifter feats for longtooth and razorclaw.

Cheerio,

Ben

WOTC had an outsider wings feat in Races of Faerun, which required one other feat (and a base save) as the prerequisites.

Edit: and if you gave up having usable arms during flight, it would take a lot of the power out - you wouldn't be able to play helicopter gunship with bow or spells.

Sorry this is not an answer, but another question.

I don't have Eberron yet, did they relaese the Shifter PrC in it?

And if so is it the same one from Masters of the Wild?

There is a PrC directed at shifters in it, but it's not anything I recognize from Masters of the Wild. Rather, it's aimed at emulating certain lycanthrope abilities, eventually giving you the ability to assume a lycanthropic hybrid form instead of your normal shifting ability (so it only lasts for a couple of rounds).

Actually, I think kmdietri is a little confused. There isn't the MotW Shifter PrC in the Eberron book. Shifter is a new race with lycanthopic blood in their lines. Kind of a half-lycanthrope but not really.

The Shifter he's talking about is a Race, not a Class.

- Kemrain the Helpful.

Dammit.. Too slow..

The way I see it, Shifter is to Lycanthrope as Tifling is to Fiend.

- Kemrain the Halfbreed.

Interesting ideas.

I'll just slide this over to house rules, where it will remain visible for longer and is likely to get lots of constructive feedback.

Cheers

strong fether is a bit weak
maybe give it glide from start then allow it to fly with the elite feat

note glide is same as flight now, but you can't gain altitude

Hawkeye and Strongfeather seem a little on the weak side... for Hawkeye, it would probably be OK to give a larger bonus (say, +4) - or alternately, a character using Hawkeye gets a bonus to hit with ranged attacks (because of their extreme visual acuity). Strongfeather giving glide seems a bit too much, but simply extending the current bonuses (greater bonuses to Jump and slightly farther slow fall) would probably be enough.

New Shifter Race

The next issue of Dragon Magazine introduces a new Shifter Race - descended from Dinosaurs - that my interest you. They have different traits.
