[Eberron] What Lurks Below (IC)

Jannis staggers forward, still holding a wound on his chest. He grimaces in pain.

"Sir, I am on a mission to meet with Lady ir'Kylie, to discuss the raids upon the surrounding land. These adventurers served as my bodyguards. And they served well, bringing me back from death as these raiders attacked us. We even took a prisoner. But we are still badly hurt and need shelter. You may take hold of this scoundrel and hold him for questioning. You will do this and let us pass without incident."

Jannis steps forward and flips out his ID card. The guard's eyes widen.

"Yes, sir! Right away."

The guard scuttles forward and grabs the prisoner.

"Get yourself in and get some shelter. The Windshire house is, well, right above us. And there's the temple, but the priest doesn't take his religion lightly and is not likely to sell his services to the unfaithful."

As you make your way into the small settlement, you see can see four major buildings. The gigantic gatehouse obviously serves as an inn of sorts - the stables in front give that away. On the southside of the town lies the temple, classic Aundairian architecture. To the north is a large windmill, possibly one of the largest you've ever seen or heard of. Set into the hill is a medium sized keep. It looks able to withstand any sort of attack. Large stone doors with intricate inlays appear prominantly.

The guard shuffles past the group with his prisoner, taking him into the keep with a few shouts to some staff seen scurrying about in the background. The large stone doors shut quickly behind them.

Jannis turns to the group.

"I must go to the temple to find some healing. Our halfling friend also seems in need of a healer's hand. I will meet with the Lady tomorrow. You may meet up with me tomorrow morning at the temple to recieve payment for your services. Anyone who wishes to accompany me may. Otherwise, feel free to stay at the House, though the temple may offer us free lodging."

Jannis starts for the temple.

"I'd appreciate it," Dormon mentions to the guard before he goes off, "If you treated him well. He's been cooperative with us and just wants to go to his family."

He then takes a quick glance around and follows Jannis, "I do follow the Olladra, but I'm afraid I'm not very savvy with all the literature as such. I hope that's okay. I at least want to see the temple before I go to the Windshire house."

"I'll accompany you to the temple as well. I would like to speak with the priest or acolyte who over sees the operations and learn more about the area." Gedward falls into a contemplative state for a few seconds and then seems to realize something.

Gedward looks over Kort and Jannis, turning to the more injured one and saying, "I could heal you a bit more if you'd like. I have not expended all of my energy yet today."

He then turns to the other, "I could also help you, though not as well. It's the least I can do after the trouble we've had tonight."

ooc: Spontaneously cast Cure Light Wounds (1d8+2) in lieu of Shield of Faith for the more injured person and spontaneously cast Cure Minor Wounds (3 hp total) in lieu of Detect Magic, Light and Guidance.

Jannis leads you to the temple, a sturdy building composed of large blocks of stone. Above the its doors, a flourishing tree is etched into the masonry. Jannis gives a few loud knocks on the heavy wooden entrance. After a few moments it creaks open, out peaking a young robed human. He takes a look at the injured party.

"Please, come in! Get out of the blessed rain and settle down. My goodness you look you've had quite the night. Let me get the priest."

He leads you too the front of the temple, pointing to some pews. He disappears down a side door and reappears a short while later with a severe and rather tired looking half-elf. His robe appears to be hastily put on.

"Now what have we here? Some unfortunate adventures looking for me to dole out some healing. We will take care of you, but my magic comes from the gods and-

Jannis interrupts:

"And it would be within your diety's interest to heal us. This group here just helped protect the surrounding farmland. Those shifter raiders. Well, there not much of a threat anymore, I gather. And they weren't even shifters."

The half-elf considers Jannis's words.

"Fine. Healing it is. We'll draw some hot water to help you get cleaned up. My name is Nicoli. Welcome to Windshire."

The half-elf works some minor healing on the injured group. His assistant brings in some large bowls of steaming water and some rags. Jannis relates his story honestly while Nicoli listens. For a moment, they speak in whispers to each other, away from the group. When they return, Jannis speaks:

"They have one bed open in the temple, and I will be taking it. They rest of you should head over to the House. They should have rooms open. And food. And ale. I will meet you all at the temple tomorrow morning, and you will recieve your payment. I am truly indebted to you all."

ooc: everyone's now at full HP. Let's also give you your xp for the road scene - everyone recieves 300 hp - I know, I know, it's not much, but you handled it pretty easily. I'll give you some harder challenges soon.

Kort (halfling male bbn1/ftr1)

Kort elbows Jannis and whispers to him.

- Hey, boss! I hate to press you, but I don't think I have enough for the inn. Could you like... give me a little advance on the pay?? And thanks for the healing, I feel like new

When Dormon entered the temple, he stepped to the side to pause and look at the temple. Homey place. And the people seem friendly enough. He washes himself a little while Jannis tells his story -- and wipes off his equipment. They had some mud on them. "Thank you for your hospitality, Nicoli. Good night." He starts to go on his way out.

OOC: If he hears Kort's whisper, he'll offer to lend him the silver for a room.

Jeth'bar shakes his head in silence. Unprofessional. Damn unprofessional., he thinks. "I'll be at the boarding house if you need me. Meet me at the temple bright and early.", he says as he skulks off to the house to get a quiet meal and a quiet room.

Jannis nods as the group turns to leave.

"I suppose you are right. I don't have all the gold on me right now, but half should suffice, no? You'll get the rest tomorrow after I talk to the Lady."

He pulls out 6 small leather pouches and tosses them to you each individually, each pouch containing 50 gold pieces. Jannis smiles warmly.

"Have fun. See you tomorrow."
