i don't begrudge Eberron at all, it seems like it's going to have a large fanbase out the door, and should be an excellent addition to WOTC's stable.

i just don't find anything appealing in it.

Sorry, I didn't word that well. I meant it seems like they're making an effort to have a little twist on just about every aspect of the D&D game. If you like druids there's something special for you, if you like spellcasters there's something for you, if you want to play something reminiscent of a werewolf there's something for you, if you're into crafting stuff there's something for you, if you want to play a tank (almost literally!) there's something for you, etc. I certainly didn't mean to imply that they were trying to (or succeeding at) apealling to everyone.

Switzerland. (Nice option BTW, at first i thought it was one of those 'I like cheese' options, not an actual position)

It's got nice art I guess, and I can understand the appeal of the warforged. Mostly tho, it just doesn't appeal. The cosmology looked pretty good to me, but nothing else has. I like campaign settings, and new spells and stuff, so I'll pick it up for that if I pick it up, but I certainly won't run a campaign there...

Switzerland. I think it looks more sensible than most settings, but I'm just too cheap - so I give it approval for what I've seen, and disproval because it'd cost me money.

Were I rich, I'd be higher up the accolade tree.

oh i certainly agree with that. Eberron seems like standard D&D "cranked up to eleven."

as i said before, i have a feeling Eberron will strongly appeal to people who like core D&D.

Definitely getting it, although I'm unlikely to run anything in it for a while. (My Greyhawk campaign is quite dear to me).

However, the other person who runs games in our group will probably find the campaign setting a lot to his taste - I'll have to lend him a copy as he's officially short on funds most of the time; but for the swashbuckling style of campaign he likes running: it looks good.

Cheers!

I'd probably buy it if other people I game with wanted me to run it, but what I've seen doesn't really hit the threshold of novelty or original style that (rarely) motivates me to buy a supplement. Really, how many generic high fantasy settings are out there now? 20, 30, 40?

My position in brief is:

- I like the theme and background ideas of Eberron
- I already have something similar IMC (a modified plane of Arcadia)
- I don't like some specific features I have heard about, as in mostly every published setting anyway, but some of them are very core for the setting
- the books cost

In conclusion, I have no plans to buy it although I think it will be a nice setting. I just like the classic D&D campaign too much to switch to something else, and I still have to try out the majority of the stuff in my books :p

My next campaign setting books: Iron Kingdoms, Eberron is on my list but IK first, unless Eberron comes out before IK. ;)
