The next room over was small with only ruined furniture inside, but the last arrow slit showed a very large room with broken bunks, cots and other furnishings to indicate this was once a barracks. Light comes in from the collapsed ceiling lighting the whole area well. A glint of silvery metal catches the old witch's eye along the far wall. Partially covered in moss and ivy she sees a kite like shield, which would normally be of no bother to her, but on the front is the green disk of Beory.
"That can't be coincidence," she thinks to herself.
Then she notices movement along the floor. Stretching like an old cat just waking up, Rana sees a huge lizard that was napping in a sunbeam. The debris around it look like a nest of sorts and as it repositions itself and lays back down, she knows this creature isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.

The sack at Emmyr's feet has rotted into uselessness, so he removes his pack and gets a fresh sack out to transfer the coins. As he takes handfuls of coins and tosses them in, the bite scars on the back of his neck start to itch. Quickly he turns and looks to the ceiling once more. But he sees nothing, especially no webs.
Unnoticed by the dwarf, at the area where the collapsed second story meets the stone stairs is a small recess. Inside, and being as still as a mouse caught with it whiskers in the cat's milk, lurks a giant wolf spider. It's natural dark fur and the angle of the opening kept it from being spotted from the doorway. It watches hungrily as Emmyr scratches his neck, shrugs, and then turns back to the coins on the ground.
Templeton just shakes his head as the dwarf resumes his looting. Maybe this time the rogue's gut was wr...
<A giant spider with dark brown fur along its legs and abdomen pounces on the unsuspecting dwarf, from above.>
... nevermind.
The spider tries to wrap all its legs around the dwarf to pin him to the ground, but either out of experience or fear, Emmyr rolls quickly out of the way.
